Where can I find some Nite Owl/Rorschach doujinshi? (I'm a yaoi fan) :D
I actually found a Nite Owl/Rorschach fanfic a long time ago but I don't remember where I found it.

Yay! I'm a yaoi and slash fan too! I'm not alone!

Hmm, I would suggest checking FanFiction.net but they don't have a Watchmen section. LiveJournal perhaps. For now, this is the closest thing we'll ever get to Nite Owl/Rorschach slash.

Heh. :D
I tried to find some fanfics from Livejournal but I didn't find any. Maybe I can write a slash fanfic myself of Rorschach and Nite Owl. :)

Ooh, I'd love to read that! :) As for me, I'm more of a slash fanart person, so I'll try my hand at drawing them! I've drawn Rorschach before. Yet, he looked too much like a pretty boy with a mask on.

I'm not very good at drawing but I'm practicing my drawing skills so I can draw human figures, positions and perspectives correctly. ;)
I have drawn Rorschach a few times but I can't draw his hat correctly. :? I have also drawn a cute chibi fanart of Rorschach and Nite Owl. :P

Oooh! I want to see the cute chibi versions of them! ^_^

I've been too busy to draw, but I always have time to doodle.

Uuughhhh..........

Kidding, just kidding. I encourage all to express their artistic side. Even if it is to bastardize one of my favorite characters. (kidding :D )

I'd like to join that deviant art site, but I don't have a scanner to scan my artwork.

I hate to be a tremendous downer and ruin the "tee hee kawaii doujinshi" moment here, but maybe there is a REASON none of that exists for Watchmen? And maybe, just maybe, it's missing the point of the story if you just skim over it and immediately start churning out adorable slash fic because that's what you do for every other fandom you're in?

Sure it's a free internet, but I wish people would think before they try to cram every single story they come across into the same end result, whether it's even remotely true to the original source material/characters or not. It honestly starts to look like people aren't even fans of the story, they're just fans of the OMG KAWAII they can create using character names from the story.

(Also for heaven's sake, it's not doujinshi unless you're a self-published Japanese comic writer/artist. I don't care how much you like anime, it's just not.)

As far as I'm concerned, the whole fanfiction/"cute" fanart movement can go die in a fire. Agreed.

To be honest, I really only got the impression that Rorschach was "polite" to Laurie was due to the fact that Dan was, of course, rather infatuated with her. You can't tell me that Rorschach isn't stalkerish enough to not even notice that. I wouldn't really put it beyond him to know just about everything when it comes to his only friend in the crazy world.

I'm not hopping onto the "he's gay and he's so gay that he's gay" train here, but I am under the impression that the closest thing he has to a friend and emotion is going to be in Dan, since he's the only one he really bothers to have a "normal" conversation with. Subconsciously, I think Rorschach keeps him as a companion; surely, it did begin as a "convenient" partnership, but it certainly hadn't ended that way.

tl;dr - I'm under the impression he's generally against anything remotely sexual, feminine, or lady-like. If we were to believe otherwise, we would probably have been given even a brief conversation with a woman who wasn't whorish in some way. A remark to Laurie, which could still be considered something of an insult (whether or not Laurie hated her own costume), doesn't really count in my book. If I had a book. I WILL HAVE A BOOK ONE DAY.

This is an interesting thread. I've been lurking on the boards for awhile, enjoying the various, thought-provoking posts. This thread lured me out of hiding with a small empty slot, custom made for my two-cents.

I hadn't noticed any mention of this Rorschach quote in reference to this thread, and I thought it applied to the topic at hand. 5:11:5:

"Out in the street, inspected defaced building: silhouette picture in doorway, man and woman, possibly indulging in sexual foreplay. Didn't like it. Makes doorway look haunted."

To me, this speaks volumes about his view on heterosexual sex. Especially when compared to the panels in Chapter 6 pages 3 & 4. (The "pretty flowers" inkblot, which reminds Rorschach of his mother and her john having sexual foreplay, seen in silhouette in the doorway in 6:3:2 and 6:3:3)

The haunted line didn't seem like a throwaway comment. I interpreted that passage as Rorschach being haunted, especially since in panel 5:11:4, he runs into the landlady. "She reminds me of my mother."

I see Rorschach as genophobic towards heterosexual sex, likely with repressed heterosexual urges. His own sexual urges make him uncomfortable, because he associates sex with decadence and filth, even violence. Why would handling women's clothing make a man uncomfortable? Because of the urges it stirs in him, urges which - in Rorschach's case - he rejects.

Though he doesn't approve of homosexuality, it doesn't seem to revolt him in the same way heterosexual sex, or even women's clothing, revolts him. There is no deep disgust, no sign of vulnerability when he mentions homosexual sex. There is just disapproval. It comes across (to me) like he is just regurgitating the party line of the conservative values he developed to live up to his invented image of his father. (And a rejection of everything his mother represented.)

As for the handshake, I think it just illustrates how touched Rorschach is that he has a friend. Rorschach has been abused and rejected his entire life. I don't think he expected anything else from anyone. Dan had recently rescued him from prison and had just referred to him as a friend. Loyal friendship is pretty powerful stuff for someone who's never experienced it. It'd probably make a guy want to bottle it in a green glass bottle and savor that first sip.

That's my two cents. :)

Then again, maybe he did just pop a boner.

I understand that some of you are taking Watchmen seriously but I'm not taking it too seriously.
Oh, and when the movie comes out, the internet is filled with rule 34 on Watchmen and there will be much worse fan girls.

Free speech works both ways - we're still allowed to think it's stupid and misses the point.
