Well, seeing as how that's one of the points of watchmen is that media is controlled most of the times... then yes I'd agree.
But I'd also argue that because the 12 chapters and the supplemental pieces are the only offcial info we have on the Watchmen universe Moore wouldn't have given us fudged info
