Dave Gibbons has been talking about this show on twitter today. From the description on the IMDB:
Quote:
Documentary style account of a nuclear holocaust and its effect on the working class city of Sheffield, England; and the eventual long run affects of nuclear war on civilization.

It was aired on the BBC in 1984, and says Mr Gibbons - "yes, it was very much in our heads when we did Watchmen."
You can see how it influenced Watchmen's (use of, at least) secondary characters, but also maybe there's a link with this.

Anywho, it's online and I've just watched a bit - very good so far, very Alan Moore. Could be there's some rather interesting links through it, or connective, ahem, threads.

Apparently it was Britain's response to the American TV movie "The Day After".

Ah, the Eighties... when at times the Cold War didn't actually feel all that cold.

The BBC's The War Game predated them both... but was deemed too controversial and so sat on a shelf unseen for twenty years before finally getting an airing in - yeah, you guessed it - 1985.
