In Chapter II, the first flashback...how can The Comedian be 16 there? He looks at least 21. Has Moore/Gibbons said anything about this?

Perhaps puberty was over generous with him? At 16, he already seems to be in very good physique. Maybe he's always worked out?

Even if puberty was over generous with him, look at him again and tell me if he looks 16.

I agree with you, he doesn't look 16. Snyder said that in the movie the youngest we'll see the Comedian is 19. Maybe he knows than Jeffrey Morgan can't look 16 either

Ah so he's altering ages a la V for Vendetta, is he?

From what I hear he is. That's good though, Jeffrey Dean Morgan can't look 16, no matter how much makeup or prosthetics he has on. Hell, 19 is a bit of a stretch

Can't they just hire young actors for the flashback scenes? Using the same actor for different ages can be kinda weak...and cheap :o

haha well thats snyder's plan...!
he's hired young actors to play the whole range of ages (apart from rorschach who we see as a little boy, of course)
imo, i never thought the comedian didnt look 16, either

Hell, I don't even look like that flashback and I'm 49!

I've noticed that age is a very difficult thing to convey in comic format. Look at Laurie's flashbacks, for example. Doesn't she look exactly the same at 16 as she does at 35?

It's like all the artists can do is gray the hairs and add a few subtle wrinkles. For some reason, aging a character backwards and forwards seems to be very difficult.

I don't know, in the panel where Eddie gets caught by Hooded Justice (II,page 7, panel 3), he looks pretty Boy Wonderish. I actually didn't realize Eddie was supposed to be 16 in that panel, though, so I didn't read him as 16 either, I thought...maybe 20-22. The real question is why they would let a 16 year old on the team? Shouldn't he have been in school? Where were his parents?

I dunno, it was a very different time; when a High School diploma wasn't necessary to make a decent living. Even Walter Kovacs left school when he was 16 to be an unskilled worker.

I could see young Eddie working the docks during the day, and beating the crap out of thugs at night.

Age is a very difficult thing for comic books to portray. Take a look at Laurie, Chapter IX, pgs. 11-12. That flashback was quite a few years ago and she doesn't look much different, does she?

Getting back to the Comedian, I find it entirely plausible that the Comedian was just a tough guy living on the streets. No school, no family, no rules, no cares, just a need to beat people up.
