You know, parts of the title song of my favorite musical of all time work eerily well for Adrian too, all except for a few lines.

"Nimm, was Du kriegst, denn sonst wird Dir genommen.
Sei ein Schwein, oder man macht Dich zur Sau.
Raff Dir Geld und kauf Dir die Welt!
Nur nicht zimperlich! Die Sitten sie rauh.
Zeig Deine Faust, denn sonst wirst Du geschlagen.
Dräng Dich vor oder Du wirst übersehn.
Willst Du bestimmen, statt andre zu fragen,
Musst Du lernen über Leichen zu gehn."

Direct English translation:

"Take what you want, or it will be taken from you.
Be a pig, or someone will bawl you out.
Rake in the money and buy the world!
Dont be soft! The rules are rough.
Show your fist, or you will be hit.
Push yourself forward, or you will be overlooked.
When you want to decide, instead of asking others
You must learn to step over corpses."

The English translation from the fan album:

"Take what you want, or you will see it taken.
Be a pig, or else they'll leave you to starve.
Grab the gold, put yourself in control, and be sure the flesh is all yours to carve.
Put a fist before somebody hits you.
Steal the spotlight or you will be ignored.
You won't get far seeking others' opinions-
If they fight you, leave 'em stiff as a board."

I hate to point out the obvious, but wow...it's amazing how powerfully this topic highlights the fandom's complete lack of interest in Laurie. When all other characters are privileged a wealth of meaningful, thought-out song suggestions, hers are actually hilarious in how utterly superficial or inept they are (with a few exceptions).

Sigh. I guess the Watchmen universe is a man's world too.

no songs for Laurie because Laurie is boring. sorry, i'm a chick, and i think she sucks. i really don't like her, why would i sit and think about what song fits her best?

incidentally, there's another song that reminds me of Watchmen. not specifically of one character, but it seems to fit a lot of the themes and situations and whatnot. Bob Dylan's "Masters of War," though i really like the version done by Leslie West and Ozzy Osbourne on Leslie West's album of the same name (all Dylan covers, really awesome). Lyrics:

Come you masters of war
You that build the big guns
You that build the death planes
You that build all the bombs
You that hide behind walls
You that hide behind desks
I just want you to know
I can see through your masks

You that never done nothin'
But build to destroy
You play with my world
Like it's your little toy
You put a gun in my hand
And you hide from my eyes
And you turn and run farther
When the fast bullets fly

Like Judas of old
You lie and deceive
A world war can be won
You want me to believe
But I see through your eyes
And I see through your brain
Like I see through the water
That runs down my drain

You fasten all the triggers
For the others to fire
Then you set back and watch
While the death count gets higher
Then you hide in your mansion
While the young people's blood
Flows out of their bodies
And is buried in the mud

You've thrown the worst fear
That can ever be hurled
Fear to bring children
Into the world
For threatening my baby
Unborn and unnamed
You ain't worth the blood
That runs in your veins

How much do I know
To talk out of turn
You might say that I'm young
You might say I'm unlearned
But there's one thing I know
Though I'm younger than you
Even Jesus would never
Forgive what you do

Let me ask you one question
Is your money that good
Will it buy you forgiveness
Do you think that it could
I think you will find
When your death takes its toll
All the money you made
Will never buy back your soul

And I hope that you die
And your death'll come soon
I will follow your casket
In the pale afternoon
And I'll watch while you're lowered
Down to your deathbed
And I'll stand o'er your grave
'Til I'm sure that you're dead

Queen's "The Show Must Go On" for the Comedian. For one, it has a nice dark undertone to it played in the background. Two, look at the lyrics:

Empty spaces - what are we living for
Abandoned places - I guess we know the score
On and on, does anybody know what we are looking for...
Another hero, another mindless crime
Behind the curtain, in the pantomime
Hold the line, does anybody want to take it anymore

The show must go on,
The show must go on
Inside my heart is breaking
My make-up may be flaking
But my smile still stays on.

Whatever happens, I'll leave it all to chance
Another heartache, another failed romance
On and on, does anybody know what we are living for?
I guess I'm learning, I must be warmer now
I'll soon be turning, round the corner now
Outside the dawn is breaking
But inside in the dark I'm aching to be free
The show must go on
The show must go on
Inside my heart is breaking
My make-up may be flaking
But my smile still stays on
My soul is painted like the wings of butterflies
Fairytales of yesterday will grow but never die
I can fly - my friends
The show must go on
The show must go on
I'll face it with a grin
I'm never giving in

On - with the show -
I'll top the bill, I'll overkill
I have to find the will to carry on
On with the -
On with the show -
The show must go on...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSkx34M3XtY <- don't mind the pictures, just look at the lyrics and imagine Edward Blake scenes from the film and/or graphic novel.

I'll post some Laurie and Laurie/ Dan songs. :D

For laurie and Dan's relationship/ Sex scene I think this would have been oddly ironic and beautiful!

"Atomic"

Uh-huh make me tonight
Tonight
Make it right
Uh-huh make me tonight
Tonight
Tonight

Oh, uh-huh make it magnificent
Tonight
Right

Ah, oh your hair is beautiful
Ah, tonight
Atomic

Tonight make it magnificent
Tonight
Make me tonight

Your hair is beautiful
Oh, tonight
Atomic
Oh Atomic
Oh

Oh Atomic
Oh Atomic
Oh "

Atomic by Blondie. :)

As for Lauries attitude in things, I think this lovely little Riff fit's her very much. :)

"Everythings just wonderfull by Lily Allen."

Everything's Just Wonderful"

Do you think, everything, everyone, is going mental,
It seems to me that it's spiraling outta control and it's inevitable,
Now don't you think,
This time is yours, this time is mine,
It's temperamental,
It seems to me, we're on all fours,
Crawling on our knees,
Someone help us please

Oh Jesus Christ almighty,
Do I feel alright? No not slightly,
I wanna get a flat I know I can't afford it,
It's just the bureaucrats who won't give me a mortgage,
Well it's very funny cos I got your fucking money,
And I'm never gonna get it just because of my bad credit
Oh well I guess I mustn't grumble,
I suppose that's just the way the cookie crumbles.

[Chorus]
Oh yes, I'm fine,
Everything's just wonderful,
I'm having the time of my life.

Don't you want something else,
Something new, than what we've got here,
And don't you feel it's all the same,
Some sick game and it's not insincere,
I wish I could change the ways of the world,
Make it a nice place
Until that day, I guess we stay,
Doing what we do
Screwing who we screw

Why can't I sleep at night,
Don't say it's gonna be alright,
I wanna be able to eat spaghetti bolognaise,
and not feel bad about it for days and days and days.
In the magazines they talk about weight loss,
If I buy those jeans I can look like Kate Moss,
Oh no it's not the life I chose,
But I guess that's the way that things go,

[Chorus x2]

Ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba [etc.]

[Chorus x2]

Very sarcastic, funny and truthfull. :)

Also I think "Just a Girl" By No Doubt really fit's her well. :)

Just A Girl"

Take this pink ribbon off my eyes
I'm exposed
And it's no big surprise
Don't you think I know
Exactly where I stand
This world is forcing me
To hold your hand
'Cause I'm just a girl, little 'ol me
Don't let me out of your sight
I'm just a girl, all pretty and petite
So don't let me have any rights

Oh...I've had it up to here!
The moment that I step outside
So many reasons
For me to run and hide
I can't do the little things I hold so dear
'Cause it's all those little things
That I fear

'Cause I'm just a girl I'd rather not be
'Cause they won't let me drive
Late at night I'm just a girl,
Guess I'm some kind of freak
'Cause they all sit and stare
With their eyes

I'm just a girl,
Take a good look at me
Just your typical prototype

Oh...I've had it up to here!
Oh...am I making myself clear?
I'm just a girl
I'm just a girl in the world...
That's all that you'll let me be!
I'm just a girl, living in captivity
Your rule of thumb
Makes me worry some

I'm just a girl, what's my destiny?
What I've succumbed to Is making me numb
I'm just a girl, my apologies
What I've become is so burdensome
I'm just a girl, lucky me
Twiddle-dum there's no comparison

Oh...I've had it up to!
Oh...I've had it up to!!
Oh...I've had it up to here!

So yeah, I hope I've added a bit. :D

Gah, I'll post some more. :)

For Some reason whenever I hear "New York State Of Mind" I think about Watchmen...

"Some folks like to get away, take a holiday from the neighborhood
Hop a flight to miami beach or hollywood.
Im taking a greyhound on the hudson river line-
Im in a new york state of mind.

I seen all the movie stars in their fancy cars and their limousines,
Been high in the rockies under the evergreens,
But I know what Im needing and I dont want to waste more time-
Im in a new york state of mind.

It was so easy living day by day
Out of touch with the rhythm and the blues,
But now I need a little give and take,
The new york times, the daily news...

It comes down to reality-and its fine with me cause Ive let it slide,
Dont care if its chinatown or riverside,
I dont have any reasons, Ive left them all behind-
Im in a new york state of mind.

Repeat 3rd verse

Im just taking a greyhound on the hudson river line-
cause Im in a new york state of mind."

"Disconnect- She Want's Revenge" Is a great instramental for Rorschach. It has a beautiful feel to it. :D

but now i am undertaking the scrutinous task of doing one for rorschach.
I just need a song that fits his character...
any suggestions for him or any other main characters would be appreciated

I got one for Silk Spectre 1, although 2 fits better.

Pain- Clouds Of Ecstasy

Pushing 40, cracks on her skin
Needs to get out, shes ready for sin
All dressed up and no one to blow
Shes so low

Silicone tits and silicone lips
Grammy awards and playing your pricks
Let the champagne flow and powder up your nose

Walking the white line of fantasy
Glamorous life is all you seek
Living in Hollywood make believe
Lost in the clouds of ecstasy

Silicone tits and silicon lips
Grammy Awards and playing your pricks
Let the champagne flow and powder up your nose

(the bridge in the remix fits more)

Always wanted to be somebody, never liked reality
Got a lawyer shes after my money
I guess I'm too blind to see

Hmm, I'm not sure if I could exactly say each character has a song to them; I think it'd be more along the lines which score would fit each one of them. I don't know, I think many words can easily relate and identify the character exactly, but just the rythem, notes, and sound are what brings out one another's soul.

Like right in the middle where Rorschach is about to and get's killed by Doctor Manhattan, I feel this song arise through it, imagining the notes directing some of the points in this scene.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMXsGKe1 ... re=related

And do not ask me why, but right after Viedt blows up half NY, I imagine just that beggining scroll of music and that small bit after the chriscendo, looking at all those who lye deadly still.

I can't think of any classic songs that would fit the characters. But when I was playing the Watchmen game, I was playing the whole soundtrack of Shinedown's new album The Sound of Madness along with it (it was on my Xbox 360). And anytime I think of "Sound of Madness" by them, it reminds me of Rorschach. So this may be off-topic, but oh well. It's the only song I can think of that suits best for Rorschach in my opinion. For the rest, I can't think of anything that suits best for the rest of them. But maybe I will think of some later, but for now this is all I have.

Here's the lyrics: http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/shinedown/soundofmadness.html

And here's the song on MySpace: http://music.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=music.singleplaylist&friendid=3626867
