Why not ? And why would that be so wrong ?

Perfectly valid, as much as it is to just hook up with someone.

There's nothing wrong with platonic friendships between exes, just so long as enough water has passed under the bridge.

After enough time has passed, it'll be much easier to go over the reasons why the relationship didn't work out. Go through it together with enough hindsight, and either one of three things will happen.

1. You'll decide to try again,
2. You'll realize that you're both totally wrong for each other, though a friendship will work, or
3. That bridge will finally have been burned for good.

#2 is the most likely from my experience, though yours may turn out to be very different. In any case, opening up a line of communication with Sierra is the best chance you've got at finding some closure. But don't you dare try it until you can do so calmly and fairly.

That's very good advice, Curi. Thanks a lot. I think I will try to contact Sierra, but not for a bit yet. At this point, I guess it's still a little too early. Another month or two at the very least seems more appropriate.

I don't know what on god's green Earth will convince you that you just have to get over that woman.......WITH ANOTHER WOMAN !

Anyways, despite our disagreements, same as always, best of luck in a month or two.

So I told Paloma that I would like us to date and she said that she didn't see any potential for us to be anything more than friends.

Incidentally, which one is Paloma?

Paloma is the latest one I've been writing about here, the girl from my class.

Yeah, I don't know what I would have needed to do. It's the same question I always ask myself.

I doubt you could have done anything different. If a girl doesn't want to date you, that's that and it's clearly her loss. You're such a great guy, Oscar, that I can only assume this Paloma's inner head cavities have at some point been hollowed out by parasitic brain centipedes.

Well said.

Now think about those same centipedes the next time you think of Sierra :D !

Haahahah, thanks. That's such a great quote I would love to post on Facebook, but I'm sure the boot would fit too easily into certain girls I have there.

That's kind of the problem, though. I don't know how much of me just wants to talk and how much is still in love with her.

I guess if I can't be honest with myself and genuinely attempt a fully platonic relationship, then I really shouldn't act.

No disrespect meant here, but have you considered the possibility that you may LIKE to feel sad about missing Sierra ? I know I've found myself in situations where feeling sad also makes me feel "good".

This quote kind of reminds me of a scene from Swingers: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S8slB-mYCPw

I think this is the second or third time I've mentioned Swingers in this thread, but it's such a great guy movie.

So, given Paloma's friendzoning me and the fact that we've had a good time hanging out afterwards has made me think if I did the right thing with distancing myself from Maribel due to her marriage. I've just been thinking: Am I going to spend the rest of my life running away and breaking off friendships with girls that I have or have had feelings for?
