What CD are you currently listening to?

What was the last CD you listened to?

What CDs are you going to listen to?

(I know I kind of stole the idea from the movie thread, but I think CDs should have a similar thread)

I'll be listening to Mastodon's Crack The Skye (released today) tonight.

The most recent albums I bought were Dylan's Highway 61 Revisited and Leonard Cohen's I'm Your Man and Death of a Lady's Man. I got a little inspired by the Watchmen soundtrack, I guess, and decided I need to own these.

Last full album I listened to was the Hedwig and the Angry Inch soundtrack.

Shame on you! That's like watching one part of a film and skipping the rest!

Well, I guess there really isn't anything wrong with that, but I much prefer to experience an album as a whole.

i'm listening through a couple of A Perfect Circle's Albums, on eMotive at the moment, (i love their "Imagine" cover vers.) i tend to only really listen to music for a couple of tracks at a time cycling to and from work, but i do always listen to albums in order at least :D

I don't see how that's lame. Everyone listens to music differently.

I like to plug in my Ipod and select songs I'm in the mood for at the time.

Lately, I've been listening a lot to Ultravox "Vienna" and Smashing Pumpkins "The Beginning is the end is the beginning" from the Watchmen trailers. That and a little Killers thrown in there as well as Kevin Rudolf's In the City album, though I hate the Lil Waynes parts.

I really need to get Crack the Skye. I loved Blood Mountain.

Last thing I listened to was Quartet for the End of Time, theme and variations by Oliver Messiaen.

Typically, I tend to listen to my iPod on shuffle or a 'mood-themed' playlist.

P.S. - I don't see what's so ridiculous about listening to single songs, as opposed to an entire album

* * *

Currently Listening To:
My iTunes on Shuffle, however while writing this entire post it's been:
"Rave On" - M. Ward (Hold Time)
"Promise" - Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (Howl)
"Ruled By Secrecy" - Muse (Absolution)

What was the last CD you listened to?
Zero 1 - Zero 1

What CDs are you going to listen to?
Only By The Night - Kings Of Leon

i don't see it as ridiculous, but sometimes (rarer these days) there is more to an album than just "a song, then another song, and another" etc.

Sure, there are some great concept albums out there, but for the most part, most of it is crap. The record studios have been selling us ten songs so we can get the three we want for a long time now.

Like I said, there are some artists who know how to put out a CD that stands up, but most of them just put out a ton of crap that doesn't really play off the rest of the stuff on the disc.

Hence, I listen to the individual songs I like by making playlists with itunes. Seldom do I listen to an entire CD. The last few were:

Jim Croce.........Greatest Hits
Harry Chapin.....Dance Band on the Titanic
Various Artists...Elizabethtown Soundtrack
Stevie Nicks......Belladonna
The Beatles.......#1 Hits
Willie Nelson......Countryman

My daughters have been running around singing Abba songs since we watched Mama Mia, so I think that may count.

Oh I agree. There are definitely a few albums that work much better as a whole than split apart (especially when it comes to instrumental/choral works)

But my comment was a general response to Smutty's not-so-intelligent response to NiteOwl. I just seriously dislike it when people feel the need to act unnecessarily troll-ish.
