Kanye West's Yeezus.

Pretty nuts. It goes from tongue in cheek soaring romance song to dark, primal sounding songs about slavery and racism.

I didn't know you listened to Kanye.
Would you recommend it though?

I didn't listen to Kanye until now. Seems like a smart guy who writes intelligent stuff despite his apparent propensity to be full of himself sometimes. And I would recommend this album, though I'm told that his previous album is his best.
And then there's the second one which is flat out dark and disturbing.

I remember linking to some of his songs off of his previous album, and you not really liking them. So, can't say for sure if you'd like that album.

Even though I think Kanye is a total asshole, I do appreciate what he's bringing to rap music. Very, very few rappers are willing to step outside the box like he does, even if it often risks being pretentious. His SNL performances in particular feel high concept. Considering most bands just perform against the same backdrop, his performances feel quite radical:

I think you might mean low concept.

So you meant Kanye West's performances are simple and easily summarized.

Okay, I see what you mean. You're right, high concept isn't the right description for it. What I'm trying to say is, while most typical performances on SNL just involve the artist performing, almost always against the same backdrop, his often do something outside the norm. His performance of Power, for example. I can't recall another band or singer that had such free reign over the staging of the performance prior to this. I can respect him if he had a specific vision that he wanted to stick to, going against the grain of what is typically done on that show. It makes me wonder why more artists don't try to do things more outside the box?

Yeah, his performance on Late Night with Seth Meyers really caught my eye. While not as unique as some of his other performances, it still felt very distinctive. He performed a medley of a lot of his songs with two or three screens displaying various video imagery. I also respect how he doesn't shy away from performing potentially disturbing material on shows like that either.

Queens of the Stone Age: ...Like Clockwork

Not a concept album, but it has some pretty dark and disturbing music videos that seem to tell a cohesive narrative composed of smaller individual stories. Very fitting for the style of music.

Anyway, I really like both of these albums and I might even buy them in the near future. They both feel really macabre and the sounds to both feel pretty unlike a lot of the stuff I'm used to so I'm glad I got to listen to them.

I like ...Like Clockwork, but unfortunately for QOTSA their work will forever be compared to Songs for the Deaf which is one of the greatest albums ever imho

I was going to buy one Killers album, but this kind of allowed me to have my cake and eat it too. Lot of good songs on here.

Oh shit, you're into AJJ as well? My friend got me into them last year, that band is ridiculously fantastic.

If you're into them, you should check out the Wingnut Dishwashers Union as well.

Cool, I will. Yeah, a friend got me into them as well. We might even go to a concert of theirs in Buffalo later in the month.

Maybe not all that different from their previous album, but pretty good stuff none the less. I really like it.

I've been listening to a lot of music lately, but this is the most unlike anything I've heard before. It is insane and sometimes disturbing. And it is great to play to Pokemon.

Also been listening to Mystery Skulls, I Fight Dragons, and Thank You Scientist who all have recent albums that are really enjoyable. Also, Trevor Something Does Not Exist.

Also, Floral Shoppe by Macintosh Plus has really grown on me.

Also, Gotye's most popular song is his worst song, easy. His other music and music videos are both amazing.
