True. But I wonder if the reason people die from getting it is because they don't take action against it (by going to a doctor and getting antibiotics)? Maybe H1N1 will prompt people to be more vigilant.

I know people who had the flu and are perfectly fine now. Doesn't mean the flu itself isn't serious. While I'm still skeptical about the whole thing I don't want to dismiss it as hysteria if only because knowing my luck I'll end up getting it.
i agree, except antibiotics are for infections, and flu is a virus, and it's generally considered bad form to be going to places where there may be immunally weakened people if you have the flu, such as doctors surgeries or hospitals. but other than that you are right, the flu can be serious, but the vast majority of people will be fine if they are treated with antivirals such as Tamiflu or Relenza.
the main problem with this flu is it is highly contagious and possibly fatal.
