In the excerpts from Under the Hood, Nite Owl I talks about how Doc Savage was one of his heroes, I've been a Doc fan for quite some time now and have read about 90 of the 182 or more of the Super Sagas and I made a myspace page for Doc(yup I'm a dork) and i was wondering if there are any other Doc fans on here

Most of the Super Sagas were written in the 1930s and 40s and re-printed in the 60s and 70s and into the 80s and 90s. Doc also pre-dated Superman and Batman

^ All but this one have been deleted. I'm going to assume it was a technical error.

Anyway, I'm rather ignorant about what Doc Savage is and why he's so important, but I'd be glad to be enlightened.

The only thing I know of him is what I've glanced at from his wikipedia page.

Wait what...? Was there even a question posed? Generally, doesn't there need to be a question in order for there to be an answer?

oh...Yeah I guess you're right.

Anyway, back on topic. Apparently no one is really a Doc Savage fan or they haven't said so. Would you like to elaborate on the character because..I don't really have much to say.

Are you a fucking spastic?
Curi already explained that the other threads have disappeared, so pretty much your insult towards the OP is both uncalled for and uninsightful as all you had to do was read what was IN THE FUCKING THREAD.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Back off, Smutty.

The thread got off to a rocky start and it doesn't help that no one here seems to know anything about Doc Savage. Unless anyone has some bright ideas on how to get this thread rolling, I suggest we just let it die.

Never say never! *reads post* Oh I guess you didn't. But Still! Would Doc Savage just let a thread die? I think not!!!

Emphasis on "think" because I don't know anything about Doc Savage.

My first post was done when there were still three threads about the topic, dude. Then Curi moved them along with my reply, and the Godziller asked me something else which I answered.

To the world at large, Doc Savage is a strange, mysterious, figure of glistening bronze skin and golden eyes. To his amazing co-adventurers -- the five greatest brains ever assembled in one group -- he is a man of superhuman strength and protean genius, whose life is dedicated to the destruction of evil-doers. To his fans he is one of the gretest adventure heroes of all time, whose fantastic exploits are unequaled for hair-raising thrills, breathtaking escapes and bloodcurdling excitement.

Just under two years after The Shadow appeared on magazine racks, Doc Savage became the third pulp character to get his own magazine. The world met the Man of Bronze in a novel titled “The Man of Bronze,” March 1933. Doc Savage was created by Street and Smith’s Henry W. Ralston, with help from editor John L. Nanovic, in order to capitalize on the surprise success of The Shadow magazine. It was Lester Dent, though, who crafted the character into the superman that he became.

Through 181 novels, the fight against evil was on. From a headquarters on the 86th floor of a towering Manhattan skyscraper, Doc, his five pals -- Renny , Johnny, Long Tom, Ham and Monk -- and occasionally his cousin Pat battled criminals the world over (and under) 12 times a year, from 1933 until early 1947; then the team’s exploits dropped to every two months until the final three quarterly issues in 1949.

The Code of Doc Savage:
Let me strive, every moment of my life, to make myself better and better, to the best of my ability, that all may profit by it.
Let me think of the right, and lend all my assistance to those who need it, with no regard for anything but justice.
Let me take what comes with a smile, without loss of courage.
Let me be considerate of my country, of my fellow citizens and my associates in everything I say and do.
Let me do right to all, and wrong no man.

Sounds pretty cool actually. Is there a cheap way to actually read issues of it?

Sounds like a Rorschach archetype. Interesting.

Ebay is probably the best way to get some of the re-prints from the 60s cheap or you can find some at used book stores

I remember seeing during Comic-Con 2009, Micheal E. Uslan (Producer on all Batman movies) announce he's working a making a Doc Savage film happen. I'd be interested to see how that develops...

WOW that would be cool since the only movie ever made was back ink the 70s and was pretty bad, Arnold Schwartzeneger was cast to play Doc in a project that started I think in 2000 but got scrapped after he was elected Gov of CA
Conde Nast Publications owns the rights to Doc and for many years have crushed any efforts to create movies and TV because they want complete control over any projects
