Yaaaay someone else posted so I can say how amazing Converge were last night! I met 2 members of the band, both of them were really nice, particularly the vocalist, who took the time at the end to say hello, shake hands with, hug, and take pictures with everyone along the barrier at the end. For such angry music, I was amazed by how positive the atmosphere was, the band were smiling the whole time, and clearly really enjoying themselves, and this was reflected in the generally very good natured crowd. It was great fun! The band are tight as hell live as well, all really energetic, and they never missed a note. I also got 2 tshirts as it was 2 for £20 or 1 for £15 because it was their 20th Anniversary show, and one of the shirts was designed by the frontman from Baroness, so that was cool. I also got a tour exclusive coloured 7 inch like these ones:

I've been waiting to see these guys for ages, and it was totally worth the wait, incredible band.

You lost a bet and now you have to pay a whole ticket for a concert you don't want to go ?!

You need new friends.

i'm sure there's a good explanation..... right?.... :| i continue to be suprised at how popular she still is, back when she first showed up i was sure she'd fade away into obscurity long before now.

Actually, it seems that I don't have to go, thanks to a loophole that I found on the terms that we discussed. In any case, it was my girlfriend who had the idea. Yes, I know. But believe me, my side of the bet was totally worthy ;).

Thanks for the loophole, I didn't lose. Yes, it was worth it, and... well, you really want me to tell my side? I thought the ";)" was obvious.

Went for the weekend! It was absolutely incredible! Highlight was probably the guy in the Gojira pit carrying an inflatable killer whale (he got it signed by all the band members at the end). Yeah, it beat last year's festival by a long way. AAAAAAAAGHHH SO GOOD! Did you see Airbourne on Sunday? So rock n' roll! So much fun!

as good as sonisphere was, i think i'm going to continue to go to Download, (see if i can make it 10 consecutive years :D) for 2 reasons
1) lack of Guinness available from the bar at Sonisphere,
and
2) it doesn't look like there is much to do outside of the arena, at download there is an "extreme" circus, a fairground and a cinema for campers, it doesn't look like there was anything like that at sonisphere, (granted we didn't have access to the campsites, but we walked past them getting into the arena)
but maybe you could tell me otherwise tbone?

Yeah the campsite only really has food stands and stuff, but it didn't bother me really, because the arena has stuff going on until 3am, and returning to the tent at 3 all I could do was sleep/sit there and drink anyway

Ah, at download it shuts when the music finishes, but the 'village' is open all night, there's definately more stuff to do at download, but I guess i'll wait for the line ups before I decide where to go.

One thing to bare in mind, Tent stages at Sonisphere are a fucking nightmare. Security block off access when the stages are only about half full (well they did for TesseracT anyway, my friend in there said it was half full, and then there was a queue outside that went round the whole tent). Also, for Gojira, I'd been in the tent most of the afternoon waiting for them, but I've heard reports that there was a very dangerous/frightening crush outside due to the way the tents were being managed.

Sorry for double posting but I went to High Voltage yesterday and it was incredible.

On the barrier for one of Priest's last ever UK shows! They did four encores, it was fantastic! Halford didn't have to sing a word of Breaking the Law.

I think my standout act though was Anathema. Truly beautiful music. I love that band.

So, Red hot chili peppers was really fucking awesome!. The new guy is pretty good, but he's not Frusciante.

On other news, I'm going to see Chris Cornell =D

Hopefully he's gotten over that "phase" that he was going through.
