Well there are 2 different versions of FMA. There is the first anime and then also the second anime that's now running which follows the canon manga.

In the first anime Envy definitly is male because you find out that he was originally Ed's half-brother when he was a human.

In the new anime though/canon manga story....Envy is technically genderless really but he does take on more of a male form/role.

Honestly Envy pretty much makes himself look like a feminine male. I've seen straight guys say that Envy makes them feel kind of 'weird'. I feel like Envy takes on this form because he wants members of both sexes to find him beautiful and 'envy' his body or something like that.

That's just a random theory I have anyway, as to why he decides to look the way he does considering that he has the ability to look like anything he wants.

He must find the form he takes attractive or he wouldn't make himself look like that. He did refer to it as his 'cute' form anyway.

It's been ages since I watched DBZ(we're talking back when I was 15/16) which was 10 years ago now.

Have you guys ever heard Frieza's Japanese voice? It's actually male.

Not to mention the way he beefs out his muscles at the end of his fight with Goku. I mean....how can that be a girl? o_O Really.

Although he is a weird alien dude. We don't actually know if his species has females so they might all just be asexual or something.

Anyway, I'll say that the gender of a voice actor doesn't really mean much because there are actually a lot of obviously male characters who are voiced by women. Goku in the Japanese version is voiced by a girl and he's obviously male.

I'm pretty sure that Naruto from Naruto and Ed from Fullmetal Alchemist are also voiced by women in the Japanese versions. These characters are all very obviously males but voiced by women.

So a lot of male characters are voiced by women. I can't think of a female character that was voiced by a male though.

ANYWAY....lol.

My Envy cosplay is pretty much finished and I took some pics the other day.

The pics are kind of crappy though since I had to take them myself and therefore had to use mirror reflection to get my whole body/outfit in the pic and to do that I also had to climb on the bed. LOL.

Yeah, I was talking about the first one. I haven't seen any of the second one yet but it's really weird how they're doing that. I know that sometimes they do several versions of one series (Cyborg 009) but I feel like it's awfully soon. Reminds me of The Hulk and Spider-man.


I can think of Near and Bart off of the top of my head.

Anyway, which characters have you cosplayed? I see in the OP you were going to do Light.

Envy is actually the first specific character I've ever dressed up as. I have a Slytherin outfit from Harry Potter too but when dressed in that it's just me as a Slytherin student....not any specific character like Draco.

There was one time where I wore the Slytherin outfit to a con but I got so hot in it. There are so many people at cons that it gets really hot inside the rooms.

That's part of why I decided to cosplay Envy.

And even though Envy's outfit looks revealing I can't actually accidently flash anyone in it. LOL. No one can see up that little skirt thing since it's also shorts.

I still don't think Rorschach would approve though. XD I need to get my b/f to dress as Rorschach since they're the same height and weight.

Okay so I went to a convention here in Toronto this past weekend and I dressed up in my Envy outfit for the first time at a con!

It was so much fun! I got SO many compliments, people telling me I'm the best Envy cosplayer they've ever seen and stuff like that. I was just really touched.

Envy's English voice actor was also there and when she walked into the Q and A room she noticed me and complimented on my outfit right away. It was really nice.

Another fan wanted a picture of her with me. I got him to e-mail it to me later!

This is the Death Note I used with thumb for scale. Watchmen and Gumby make a cameo.

The convention itself wasn't all that great. It's really wound down in scale since it first began. It used to be so big that it would take my friends and I an hour just to make one lap around the thing. Oh well. I got a Zoidberg action figure and a Gundam wall scroll so it's all good. I wish I could go to the New York Comic-Con, though, but it's right in the middle of the school year.

Oh, and here's me in a Vizard mask for no reason.I've decided that it's one of the many viable masks to wear in the event that I decide to prowl the streets at night and beat up bad people. Message received, book!

The place where I host my pics seems to be down right now too or I'd post new ones. I made a 2nd wig now too(a black one). So I have 2 Envy wigs now. XD Envy's hair is black in the manga(since even in coloured pages it's black) and green in the first anime. In the 2nd anime it's dark but with green tint.

Well if they work for you that worries me in a way because it makes me wonder if there is something wrong with my computer. There are some other sites that I normally go to which I haven't been able to access for the last few days and I wonder what's going on.

Do the links I posted months back still work for you? Because nothing on that site is working for me anymore, along with a bunch of other sites.

Light's costume must be comfortable to wear. Some other costumes....I imagine they are a pain in the ass to wear. XD

My Envy outfit is comfortable aside from the wig. The wig gives me headaches if I wear it too long.

Also the Envy outfit is not practical for winter. I actually went to a small con here in Toronto in December and I showed up in regular clothing but some people really wanted to see me as Envy because they like my Envy cosplay a lot. So I went back home, changed, and came back. LOL.

I only did it because the con was totally indoors though and my dad could drop me off right outside the doors so I could just quickly run in. I was still cold though. It was cold-ish inside....although it was survivable. I could deal with it.

Yeah, it really is because it's pretty much just composed of normal clothes. I actually went as Light to a party this past Halloween and I even practically won. So that was pretty cool. I was originally going to go as the Joker, but then while I was thinking about the complications that were apt to arise due to the make-up, I remembered how hassle free my Light costume was.


You should put him in a choke-hold until he agrees. It'd be awesome.

A lot of the characters in Death Note wear pretty normal clothing compared to other anime series actually.

You know at one con I went to I heard some girl mutter under her breath to her friends about me....she said something about "skanky Envy". LOL. I guess she thought my outfit is skanky. XD What's funny is although Envy's outfit does show a lot of skin....it's really not revealing if you think about it. The chest area is more covered than with a lot of clothing and I actually can't flash my undies to anyone in that outfit either because it's a skirt thing with shorts under since that's how Envy wears it. I could flip upside down and no one would see my undies. People wear bikinis all the time and they show way more.

So it's really....not revealing. LOL.

That girl just wanted to call me skanky I guess for some reason. lol. I guess some people like to flip out from seeing my mid-section and legs and go into crazy ass prude mode on me as if every part of a woman's body is 'sexualized' to the extreme. And Envy is a character that gets cosplayed by moth guys and girls(infact the 3 other Envy cosplayers I saw at that con were all male)....and I doubt that males cosplaying as him get called 'skanky' for dressing in the exact same outfit.

It was super hot out anyway. o_O I don't see why I'd want to wear something warmer. I really wondered why she wanted to bitch about me. lol.

Oh and wow that cosplay vid is long! I might watch it another time. I don't have time to watch it now. XD Also the vids I linked aren't mine, the guy who uploaded them made them.

My computer is working better again by the way. I fixed the problem. I fully scanned my computer and anyway, it actually wasn't a virus. I just had to unplug and re-plug in something for some reason.

So the pics you posted work for me now. XD They look cool.
