So I'll be visiting my hometown of Mexico City in a few weeks (haven't been back in 4 years), and I'll be taking my video camera with me.

Anyway, I want to take it upon myself to show Mexico City in as accurate a portrayal as possible, showing both the poverty as well as the prosperity throughout the city. I'm tired of people thinking Mexico City is some big shanty town, and hopefully I can change some perceptions.

So I'd like to know what you guys would like to see in the video? What comes to mind when you think of Mexico City? What questions do you have that could be answered in a video? What do you think are some misconceptions that could be addressed?

I'd really love to hear from you guys. It would mean a lot to me, and help me wrap my head around what I should shoot. So please let me know!

Well, I would love to see the landmarks (or important places) of Mexico. I'm planning a trip to North America and Europe, so it would be nice to see them. Dunno if it helps you.

Also: use "The Cucaracha" for soundtrack
(kidding, you know)

Show us a bit of Mexico City which we don't know about, something to surprise us, keep your camera with you at all times in case there is anything really cool to film.. I don't know enough about Mexico City to know what I want you to film

Well what comes to mind when you think of Mexico City (even if you don't know about it)? Do you think of shitty music with donkeys walking around? What stereotypes come to mind?

Thanks for the suggestions so far. Keep 'em coming.

Dirty water and abnormally large shrimp immediately come to mind.

And Swine flu.

Anyway, I'd like you to capture a landing of a flying saucer on film. I believe that would indeed be an interesting thing to see.

I hope you guys will forgive me for bringing Carlos Mencia into this, but he once had a bit where he talked about taking three hours off work for lunch outside the border towns. Always wondered if that was true.

Aside from that, I'd like to see attention paid to the architecture. The architecture really made an impression on me when I went to Cuba and I'd like to do a bit of comparing/contrasting. Also, don't forget to catalog some real Mexican food. Put those Taco Bell motherfuckers to shame.

If you can, I'd also like to see what they do for fun down in Mexico City. An overall impression of their TV shows, movie theaters and radio stations would be nice. Also, if possible, ask a few natives about their thoughts regarding Mexican and American politics.

Oh, and don't forget the street hawkers. If it's a tourist destination in central America, I guarantee that there are street hawkers there ready to steal tourists' wallets and eat them alive.

Anyway, just keep your camera with you, stay safe and have fun!

I apologize...

I'll definitely show the architecture (which is AMAZING there), and really try to give the feel for the place.

The pickpockets are always on the prowl, but I know how to deal with them...or join in. After all, I am a Mexico City native :D

Just kidding. The food thing is a good idea. I'll get some good shots of street vendors, churro dudes, etc. (yes, the churro is indeed real Mexican food).

No, that seems like the appropriate amount.

Oh hey, I didn't even notice that.

This is why people suck at proofreading.

Damn. Shouldn't have pointed it out. That's another fail for me (you gotta admit, though, it looks pretty impressive. The three collages fit together perfectly)

Back on topic. Mexico. Never been to Mexico. I only have bad stereotypes about it in my head. Like it's a dangerous place to live, the cops and politicians are all corrupt, that sort of thing. So, my advice is to keep it real. Show the good and the bad.

I think everyone here has mentioned almost everything that would be worth filming.

I would ask you to not give it a "Michael Moore Treatment" when you're filming everything
