I just said I like their music...

I believe the appropriate response here is "Just don't hurt me."

For some reason every post I make is not to be taken at face value... I always have an ulterior motive.

So there have been 4 shooting deaths here in the past three days in Toronto. One man was shot and killed last night, this coming after one of the largest shootings in the cities history on Monday. On Monday night, 2 people were killed (one of them a 14 year old girl), and 23 injured at a neighborhood block party. Another one of the victims who is now in stable condition is a 22 month old. Some of you may remember that a month ago I posted about a shooting at a major shopping mall. I don't really know what's going on, but it seems as if most of these shootings are gang related, and are what you'd call "black on black" shootings. People are calling for stricter gun control, or more youth programs to help these kids stay out of trouble. I think I'm starting to feel apathetic, though. These shootings almost always take place in the same neighborhoods, and now I'm not really surprised when I check the news and hear of a shooting.

Well, Michael Moore has pretty much implied in all of his filmography that Canada is "paradise", so if he read that I'd imagine that's what he would respond.

Surely Britain is,
strict gun control
public healthcare
aren't they like his 2 favourite things?

Man, sorry to hear that, t3cii. Hopefully things get a little better on that front.

Too bad Batman's not around to kick the guns out of peoples' hands.

So my comment about Michael Moore's favorite thing being greasy cheesburgers got cut into the Aurora massacre thread and it is now woefully out of place...

Well, it was a pretty cheap shot to begin with...but yeah, yeah it is.

I thought about putting this in the "Troubles n' shit" thread, but it's hardly troubles and shit so it's going to go here.

As some of you know, I have anxiety issues. A doctor once told me that I could have OCD. I was never diagnosed with OCD, but I've been treated for anxiety because when I was fourteen or so, it got so bad it physically affected me. Since then, I've kept myself more calm and I haven't fallen to that level of anxiety, but I still struggle with it a lot.

But for some reason, I don't know if it has to do with me growing up and having to take on some pretty heavy responsibilities soon (Or maybe watching "The Dark Knight Rises" put certain things into perspective, I dunno haha, that's the catharsis of art I guess but that's another ball of wax), I can't quite pin it on but while that anxiety hasn't fallen down, it doesn't seem quite so...real, I guess, anymore.

One of the things that comes with anxiety is that your fears feel tremendously real. That yes, things can go awfully wrong and they will go wrong. And you can't do anything about it. I've been feeling in a hectic state lately because I'll be going into my last semester of school, I'm moving, I have to apply for a Master's and I'm working on projects and with all of that in mind, there are a lot of terrifying thoughts that come into my mind like a stampede of elephants. But lately I've felt like I've found myself in the stampede and can work my way around it. Like all those things I fear are possible but they are just that: fears. Things that I need to prevent if I am able to and things I need to be ready for in case they happen. But I also think about how rational or irrational they may be and if they don't quite make sense and I feel like I am able to distinguish that in an easier way than before.

I am still terrified and uncertain of the future and I'm sure I'll always be, but at least I feel like I can take care of what's actually under my control and I can make the best of it.

Ryan Gosling's just gonna be to crime films now what Clint Eastwood was to Westerns, isn't he?

I guess that's not a bad thing, though. I certainly prefer it to the alternative. *glares at The Notebook*

Yup. I look forward to all of his crime flicks too so long as they're unique and well thought out.

Cool.

She has a point about the name thing, though.
