A while back, I'd posted I was moving to LA. Well, some stuff happened, and it's not until now that I'm doing it. Then some other stuff came up, and apparently I'm moving in about a month (much earlier than I expected).

I'll be near Santa Monica, which seem to be really cool. I also don't have a car, and from what I hear Santa Monica (and West LA) has better public transportation than the rest of the city.

This is the first time in 19 years that I'll be living by myself. Well, with housemates, but you know what I mean. I'll be living off student loans for a while, though hopefully I can find some jobs to pay for at least some of the rent, and of course video equipment, fun money, etc.

I'm EXTREMELY excited about this. I moved from Mexico City (20 + million people) to a city in Colorado with about 100,000 people. It'll be nice to go back to city life, even if it is different from Mexico. Needless to say, I'm also scared shitless. I don't know anybody in California, and I won't even be starting school until August/September, so I'll be alone for a few months. The worst thing about that is that I may have to watch Inception by myself :(

Anyone have experiences in LA? I'd love to hear what people actually think of the place!

Good luck, buddy. ;) I'm actually hoping to move to New York City in a year or two so I can relate.

Nope! But from what I've seen, lots of drug wars happen and Predators come and fight Danny Glover in the night.

Ah! I hate "ese." Either go with "güey, compa, cabron, etc." but "ese".... ugh.
And thanks for that documentary. You really get a sense for both the harshness and beauty that Cali has to offer. Very informative piece.

What does ese mean, anyway? I always assumed it meant something like friend.

It's like calling someone "guy" or "dude," but I find it extremely trashy. And it's a northern Mexico thing, most mexicans don't use the word.

AWW! Congrats Diego! I wish you luck! I know absolutely nothing about California, unfortunately, but it's a new state and they don't know what an infamous perv you are there...yet. Maybe a pretty Cali girl will go see Inception with you. ;)
