So, apparently, this protest is into its second week, but it's been getting very little media coverage. Seems to be that activists camped out in lower Manhattan, protesting the country's economic system, but the unnecessary violence on the part of the police seems to have escalated recently with little to none show of force by the protestors themselves.

I haven't really been following it, but I did see one protest that sort of wound down quietly without much incident.

I think violence in response to peaceful protests does nothing but lend the protests a sense of reasonability.

that said these protesters aren't going to accomplish anything

Well, I think we're all upset at the state of the economy and the lack of any competent measures to fix it. At least these people are doing something about it and making their voices heard in a way that's (allegedly) legal and peaceful.

By going to companies that couldn't care less about their public opinion? These protests will have the same effect as sending a strongly worded letter to Ahmadinejad and asking him to change his stance on homosexuality.

The USA is a country where people are free to protest. Make the most of it. Rights are easily taken for granted until they are taken away.

Oh yeah they have every right too, I just don't think it will accomplish a lot. If they want change make it heard at the ballot box next year

Hey, I'm not saying it will amount to anything. But then, neither will bitching about the economy from an armchair.
