What's not to get? The hitter's bat flew into the crowd, this guy picked it up, and now he's swinging it like Conan the Barbarian. Also, he looks like Mike Myers in So I Married An Axe Murderer

Also, from the same telecast:

Image

Throughout the entire game, the cameras kept going into the stand, and fans waved to the camera. Or simulated hand jobs, take your pick.

I thought he was someone famous or something, the guy really has a............."famous look".

That doesn't seem like baseball though, softball ?

And also, was this the game that was introduced by Geddy Lee ?

It's major league baseball. What do you mean?

Geddy Lee threw out the first pitch. Wait, how did you hear about that? :)

So now I know what you're into. What does it for ya, the glasses?

It's funny, but I got really annoyed with the game's presentation, since they were constantly going into the crowd, with swooping shots of the fans, and fans waving to the camera. This normally isn't done, but the network seemed to be making it "all about the fans", with these annoying promos featuring Metric. But when I saw that guy pretending to jerk his friend off, I burst out laughing. That's why you don't put cameramen in the crowd, shit like that is bound to happen.

Not really. It depends on where the person comes from. People from Newfoundland, or some of the more rural parts of the country where they have heavier accents might, in some cases even adding a letter 'a' at the end. But I think most people pronounce it with a second soft 't', which might make it sound like the t isn't being pronounced. Americans tend to over pronounce it, saying Tor-on-to.

So Tony Mendez is full of it  ?

I know Geddy Lee says "Torono", it's quite noticeable.

I'll take your word for it. Although it's funny, because he's from the same part of the city that I'm from, yet I don't think I pronounce it "Torono". But some people definitely do pronounce it that way, so it's not a total myth.

Incidentally, no one pronounce about as "aboot". I don't really know where that came from. If anything, it's closer to "a boat". I think the Irish influence in Newfoundland and Labrador may have been to blame.

I heard it from an interview he had at Q104.3, though I can't find the full version, just the "snippet" one

Labrador isn't a town, and the dog's name originates from there.
