Although there is a great article on this site detailing all the different versions available, we could use this thread to discuss the nitty-gritty details. (edited: thanks C-Inc!)

Today at Target I saw:
1-disc theatrical cut fullscreen ( ) DVD
1-disc theatrical cut WS DVD
2-disc director's cut WS DVD
3-disc (third disc is the nonsense "digital copy" which I believe to be a rip of a theatrical cut at DVD resolution, it's 2.2 GB) director's cut WS Blu-Ray with lenticular (pseudo-hologram) slip-case - which I purchased.

Amazon.com seems to be selling all of the above, although I cannot confirm if the last one has the slip-case.

There's also the fancy Owlship edition, which seems to have the same disc content as the Blu-Ray.

See more versions for sale below, especially steelbook and Best Buy versions.

Looks good! Still, I think there's more sublte info that needs attention, like Canadian versions, and ... fullscreen editions? Maybe this will be the little thread that could.

I had to rent the movie from Blockbuster so I'd have a copy for the live event on Saturday. I ordered from amazon but it won't get here until next week.

Anyway, the Blockbuster version was a 1-disc Blu-Ray.

Does this count as another version?

Best Buy also had a Two-Disc DVD Rorschach Mask Case (has cloth and lace) and a Three-Disc Dr. Blu-ray Manhattan Case (translucent and glows in the dark)

Curiosity Inc. wrote:

I emailed the site to correct some information on there. All Blu-ray versions are three discs; a third disc is not specific to the Amazon Owl Ship.

Wow I wish I'd made this thread earlier - the Steelbook and Dr. Manhattan versions both trump what I ended up buying!

Thanks, guys.

I got the NON-digital copy of the theatrical cut blu ray @ Best Buy for 24.99

Looking at the box, it still has all the same stuff as the 3 disc version minus the digital copy, but nowhere does it indicate any type of "special edition" or having more than one disc...

weird

I was not going to buy this and wait until Dec. for the OMFGULTIMATEWATCHMENFEST blu ray, but knew I'd just wind up going to blockbuster and renting the DC a bunch of times in anticipation (even tho I've seen the DC thanks to the interwebs and sneaky people), plus my blu ray player needs a little workout

What are you talking about? The Theatrical Cut was not released on Blu-ray. The only Blu-ray that was released today was the Director's Cut that includes 3 Discs, one of which is a Digital Copy, and it retailed at Best Buy for $24.99

Well today I got the full-screen VHS 5-tape ultimate edition at Circuit City for 99 rupees... it includes a digital copy of the laserdisc theatrical cut burned onto a mini-disc.

Dude, pace yourself. We've still got a 5-disc edition coming down the pike, you know.

DOH, my mistake, of course I got the DC

had 2 discs, when I went to bestbuy the 3 disc versions were gone, but no worry, since i plan on getting the ultimate cut eventually

I also stopped by Blockbuster to rent the dvd since i can't watch blu rays @ work, and ffs, they are only renting the TC on dvd, wtf

I don't even know why the TC was even burned to disc, its such a waste compared to the far superior DC

I just ended up getting the Director's Cut 3-disc on Blu-ray. Only 24.99 at Best Buy!
Also... is there any way we can know how well the DVD/Blu-ray is selling... besides the amazon bestsellers list (it's still at #1)?

Initially I thought I'd compile all the info in the first post; I think I'll let the original info stand as it is in the thread since so much of it is hard to substantiate.

Google news came up dry for me, maybe they compile these numbers after the first week of sales.
