Heard excenllent things about it. it's basically as if David Lynch branched out to direct an anime.

Ruruoni Kenshin, Yu Yu Hakusho, and Trigun as well. CB and OS were already mentioned, Miyazaki and Akira as well. If you're into some heavy violence and fighting, give the Dragonball series a lookover. Watch the Vampire Hunter D movies as well.

I also enjoyed the vampire hunter d films the animation blew me away in bloodlust. Watched Jin-Roh last night it is a fantastic film. Very dark and thoughtful. I would also insist that Grave of the Fireflies is watched as it is one of my favorite films of all time. It is tender sad and beautiful.

I would recommend Paranoia Agent, Evangelion, and Death Note. I like Bleach too but that's on the long side. I also really liked Howl's Moving Castle. I would reccomend Dragon Ball Z but I think my fondness for it had a direct correlation to me being whatever age you are in Elementary School. Stll good but that's long too. And I liked Big O until it ended. The ending angers me.

I didn't really like Paprika as much as I thought I would but that may be because I didn't understand it.

Oh. And Hamtaro.

I have seen the film and read one of the manga's and loved them both. The collected box set comes out on oct 5th all remastered and stuff so I will watch the series then. I live in the UK so access is limited.

but now i have to choose between death note or Bebop

I'm sure most of you already know about this but it's directed by the same guy as Paprika: I mentioned it earlier so..

I haven't seen Paranoia Agent yet, but I know the opening, and it's one of the weirdest things I've ever seen. No idea what it is all about, but I'm going to check it out as soon as I get the chance.

Do it. Do it 9 times.

(homestar runner reference)

It's pretty easy to watch because it's only 13 episodes long. It's a very creepy and weird series. I couldn't even finish watching the third episode when it was first on adult swim at night.

It was amazingly retarded. As in, it was retarded. A few laughs, but still retarded.

I don't think this has any spoilers in it. It's only 11 seconds long. Funny Death Note Clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g4GtnBGDUDo&NR=1

is FF unlimited a series, and will I understand it even though I don't know the ins and outs of the plots of every game. Just interested because I like FF and if it is a good anime even if you aren't an FF nut then it is probably worth a look for me.

A Place Promised in our Early Days is a really good anime (i might have got the title a bit wrong sorry!) I don't really know how to explain it but it is really cool and really pretty. My only really minor complaint is that the girl's face looked a bit odd. Dunno why, I guess just not my animation taste.

I STRONGLY recommend Elfen Lied. Absolutely compelling with outstanding animation and with very well drawn-out characters. It's also pretty short (13 20-minute episodes), so you can finish it in just a couple of days or even hours. A few warnings, though: It's EXTREMELY gory and nudity and weirdness abounds. I wouldn't say it's as weird as Paprika (which is another favorite of mine), but the characters definitely find themselves in some utterly bizarre circumstances. What I really enjoyed about it that might put some people off is that it manages to mix various tones without seeming inconsistent: It has fantasy, drama, horror, romance and comedy all in one. Definitely a blast. Disturbing but enormously engaging and entertaining.

Others I've enjoyed-

Films:
Princess Mononoke
Spirited Away
Castle in the Sky
Akira
Ghost in the Shell
Blood: The Last Vampire
Metropolis
Howl's Moving Castle
The Castle of Cagliostro (Basically anything by Miyazaki, really)
Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honneamise

Yeah, it's a series and I don't think it requires pre-existing knowledge of the Final Fantasy series though I hear that it has some references to the games. The games are all separate unless it's stated that they're a direct sequel/prequel to another one so this is probably the same.

I've never actually seen it but my friend who's a Final Fantasy nut owns it.

I'm hesitant to try a Final Fantasy movie after the failures that were Spirits Within and Advent Children.

As for anime recommendations, I'd be curious to hear what a total newcomer would think of Evangelion 1.0 (you know, the first of that four-part movie remake they're trying).
