Anybody else a fan of this video game series?
I've been a huge fan for about 5 years now. This is easily one of the most influential stories I've ever encountered. It's engaging, horrific, exciting, and sad. I've always hoped to be able to one day make a film based on Half-Life, but I'll have to wait a while. Hopefully no one beats me to it ;)

Anyway, if anybody else here is a fan, then discuss away!

I love Half-Life. I bought The Orange Box and played all three half-life games on that as fast as I could. I really love how mysterious and gripping the story is. The mod, Black Mesa Source should be coming out soon. I don't know if you know about it but it's really just the first half-life game but with completely overhauled graphics. It looks great and is supposed to come out near the end of 2009. I also really liked Portal. I guess that kind of counts as part of it because it's supposed to take place in the same universe. It just doesn't tell when. Can't wait for Half-Life 2: Episode Three and Portal 2. :)

Also I think this web series about Gordon Freeman's musings on his predicament in Half-Life are really funny. You may have already seen it but here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7J80KD4BG7M

And here's a link to a trailer for Black Mesa: Source http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lul60ixy_40

Started out casually (attracted by the Metacritic score) and played in this order:
Half-Life 2
Half-Life (first half, then gave up)
2 Ep 1
2 Ep 2
Half-Life
Opposing Force (finished a few days ago)
Blue Shift (started and finished yesterday)
Uplink (did it yesterday)

So, having played the complete catalogue (and Portal too), it's safe to say that I'm a big fan now - eagerly awaiting Ep 3. I still can't make head or tail of the plot, mind.

I played Half-Life when it first came out in like 98. Then I started playing Counter-Strike, which I ended up playing professionally for close to 10 years. Half-Life 2 is amazing as well, one of the best games ever. Valve never disappoints.

Eeep!

Great trailer for the source version of Black Mesa. Just get those headcrabs away from me. Those things scare me shitless!

Played a bit of Half Life when it first came out. Then I was very soon hooked into the Deathmatch side of it, then TFC (briefly) and the very wonderful Counterstrike mod.

I played Counterstrike already from Beta 3 up until it was about to come out on source. By that time I was playing more Day of Defeat with my clan buddies over the web.

[CoFR], [GGi] and [CGA]. Ah, those were the days.

Half-Life is the equivalent of LOST in videogames, i'm even wondering who Freeman REALLY is, that's how paranoid i am

I've heard that one before! and honestly, i can't say it's not a good theory, for all we know the G-Man could be Gordon's father, but then again i've wondered, is Gordon even human? is he really a graduate of MIT? who is he? *head spinning*

Anyone got news on Episode 3 ?, it's taking "Duke Nukem Forever" long.

Remember that G-Man is the name by which the character was baptized by the community of fans, it's not the name the developers made for him, nevertheless, it doesn't mean the theory could be wrong.

C'mon people! this is one of the best game franchises ever made and we only got 10 posts ?

Actually, the "G-Man" is credited as the G-Man in the credits of each game.

Are you sure? Didn't they just start calling him that after fans did? He looks like a government man with his fancy suit, brief case, and lizard-like eyes. I don't think it's supposed to be any deeper than that.

Don't know who's seen this. It's a short fan film based on the franchise.

I love this series. I recently replayed Half-Life 2 and was amazed by how well everything held up to today's standards. The story and atmosphere are wonderfully engrossing, and I can't wait for Episode 3!

It seems like someone will break Duke Nukem's record.
