I torrented me some Motion Comics. But still I'm not buying the UC, since I already have the DC and BF DVDs. Back to TPB!

Go. Die. In. A. Fire.

First of all, that's a little extreme.

Second, they suck.

Seconded. While it was a good try, the lack of more voices really hurts them and as faithful as they are...you might as well just read the book at that point.

1) It's perfectly apt.

2) No, they don't. First statement applies.

Josh, strong opinions warrant strong reasons. You want to talk about dying in a fire? How about some arguments to make the sentiment constructive?

For my part, I now own two copies of the Motion Comic: A complimentary promo copy from the good folks at WB and the copy that came bundled with the UC. To this date, neither one has yet been opened. I've only ever seen the first chapter, back when iTunes was offering it for free download.

In my mind, the Motion Comic is and has only ever been a commercial. It's an overlong promotional video for the Watchmen comic and the Watchmen film. I would never pay to see a commercial and I have my doubts about sitting through one for several hours.

the way i see them is it is an interesting way to relive the book in a new way. and it is technically the most faithfull version of watchmen in video media. sure the one voice to rule them all is distracting some times, infact i kind of wish you could turn the voice off altogether and just have the music/soundfx, since all the speech bubbles are there you could just read them.
it will never be as good as reading the book, nor will it be able to compete with the movie in it's medium, but it is still a nice way to enjoy Watchmen, and every self proclaimed watchmen fan should at least give as much of it a go as they can, if they don't like it by the end of episode 1 then so be it, not everyone has 5 hours and 25 minutes to spare for something like that, but if you do, it's pretty enjoyable, and quicker and easier than reading watchmen again,

i'm sure if you have the right program, the voices can be gone.

That's assuming some people don't consider the motion comics to be torture.

Some would say they're almost as bad as dieing in a fire.

I've always thought of the Motion Comic as a cheap novelty distraction for those who have gotten bored of shitting their pants.

Motion comics are not comics, because they move. However, there's not enough motion to justify calling them cartoons, either.

These monstrous attempts at hybridization are truly an affront to pop culture in particular and entertainment in general. The sooner the idea goes away forever, the better.

And they caused the holocaust.

Seriously though, I agree with what you said.

I watched the first 2 chapters when I bought the UC.

(sigh) Not to sound redundant, and God forbid I should have an opinion, but the narration....sweet Jesus the narration was awful.

It's like they got the voice actor who played Captain Murphy from Sealab 2021 (may he rest in peace) to bullshit in front of a microphone as every character. Was I really expecting too much hoping the actors from the film, or even some normal voice actors, would play the cast? And I could maybe understand if they got one narrator who was actually good and had a great voice range, but it's like this guy doesn't even attempt to differentiate his character voices. Plus...it's just really, really creepy listening to the Juspeczyks. (shivers)

The animation itself is nice I guess. I was expecting it after playing The End is Nigh and seeing the motion comic cutscenes. But again, those had actual voice actors.

Been watching some on YouTube. The narrator's truly awful.

Has been said before, but not often enough... AWFUL.

Okay...

I apologize to the narrator. I got the DVD, and I did dislike it, all the stuff they edited out
but as it went along I got into it. It's got a mesmerizing quality to it, and the narrator is actually quite good.

Best part is the music, truly haunting and beautiful. The composer, whose name happens to be Lennie Moore (Lovely!), says Warner Bros. don't plan to release a CD with the score, which is a real pity.

I so would love to have that music on its own!

i have to agree with you, the music, and occasional sound effects are really the only thing that stops me muting it, and once you get into it is enjoyable
