I was thinking about this thread the other day. How about filming the places YOU think we should see? Example, If I have to make a video of Buenos Aires, I would film Caminito, the Casa Rosada, etc.

Ok, first, I'm NOT asking what I should film specifically. I want to know what comes to your mind so that I can film things that you may not expect to see, or were right about.

Pyramids. Eh. I've seen them so many times, and honestly it's pretty much what you've seen. There's not much I can show that would be new, so I'm not sure about it. If I do tape them, it'll probably be at the Three Cultures Plaza, since that basically sums up Mexico in one area.

Xochimilco would be cool. Don't know if I'll have time, but I'll try. I've actually never been there myself :(

I have an overwhelming need to show the modern Mexico City. Everyone I talk to about Mexico City seems to think it's in the desert somewhere, with people listening to Ranchera all the time. When I mention the skyscrapers, the malls, the high-end shopping, etc. They're like "Huh? I didn't know Mexicans even had cars." And no, we don't all listen to Ranchera (which sucks ass, imo). Hell, just look up Metallica's concerts in Mexico City. Metalheads galore.

Oh yea, and last time I went, I got strep throat. With my luck, I'll bring back a nice strand of swine flu.

*Edit
Here are some awesome photos I found of the city.

The best are on page 1, but try to check out the whole thread.

I am quite interested in the whole "day of the dead" thing because we have a few of the dolls at home, if there is any of that o a larger scale or perhaps more in context I would like to see it.
for those of you that don't know what I am talking about:
Image

Not the best picture, the ones we have at home are much more colourful, but yeah, not as morbid as they initially sound. I have one in yellow ribbon playing the violin with a tricorn hat on his head in my room, and in the kitchen we have one in a pink and orange dress with green bows, she has sparkly eyes, rosey cheeks, and she is smiling.

Day of the Dead is a novelty in Mexico. People think we actually take it seriously, and we really don't. I think it's just an excuse to make sugar skulls and colorfully morbid folk art :)

I do miss it though. Halloween has a much happier feel in Mexico than it does here. I doubt I'll be able to film anything related to it since it's in the Fall, but if I do you bet I won't miss the opportunity ;)

I have nothing in particular to suggest, because I know very little about Mexico lol. I would like to just see how modern Mexico City is because movies don't paint a "modern" looking Mexico most of the time ;)

I'm Australian, so just seeing more of a country I don't really know much about would be interesting.

To the others...well.

Just confirmed my tickets. Yay! I leave in a week. Excited as hell, I haven't been home in way too long.

Alright, I leave tomorrow morning, so here's my farewell. I'll probably get on the forum while I'm there anyway, but whatever.
Catch you guys later!

That's what I think of when I see the title of this thread.

I've always read it as:

OhfuckohfuckohfuckohfuckohfuckohfuckohfuckohfuckohfuckohfucksomeonesavemeIdon'twanttodie

Looks like Diego's call went unheard...

That should be the title of the thread right there.

Got here at around 12:35 am. Smooth flight, although apparently Canadians are invading Mexico City. God it feels great to be home :D

I'll update this as often as I can, until I eventually finish my "project."

Peace.
