Paintball? That's something you don't expect often on a film set. A fantastic end to a fantastic piece. And I love those badges.

I didn't get that impression. Look at the official studio shot of the Gunga Diner. That's the kind of effect that one of these smoke machines had. And they smell like gunpowder.

To be totally honest, the few photos I took that night came out very dull, mostly because of the flash and unsteady hands. Matthew was the only one I asked to pose with me(along with the Cult single he picked), but the flash gave him laser eyes (p'tchew p'tchew), and I get weird in front of cameras anyway. You're not missing much, trust me!

What do you guys think of the badge? While it looks cool from a design standpoint, I have to wonder if the U.S would really come up with badges, for what I assume to be a covert mission. Or maybe it's not covert if it involves Jon. He kinda stands out.

Will we actually see the badges in the film, or was that just made for the cast and crew?

Well, oddy enough, patches are made for covert missions. Check out this interesting link...
http://www.newsweek.com/id/118841?GT1=43001

I don't think, however the Doc Manhattan Vietnam mission was covert.

And, yes, these will be the actual patches that will appear on the army uniforms during the Vietnam scene. I'm guessing you won't get as good a look at them in the movie, but it's nice to see this attention to detail.

nice to see that zack is taking liberties as we predicted - but they're cool liberties.

I couldn't tell ya. (Interpret that any way you like.)

But I'm sure there are possibilities.

One thing I just noticed about the patch is that it has two crossed cutlasses. Black Freighter reference?

They're also crossed behind the smiley like a skull and crossbones would be.

Boy, that Zack Snyder knows how to throw a party.

You are the envy of the Watchmen fandom right now, HappyHarry. You should go to Vegas and take that kind of luck with you. ;)

Thanks very much for sharing the story. I think the site and the forum are richer for it.

Your name is surely fitting, HappyHarry. What a unique experience. Good to know the crew got along so well and I like the detail on the bacth. Very cool.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned this yet:

Quote:
My host points out a device jutting out of the sidewalk, roughly the dimensions of a parking meter — it’s a spark hydrant! From the official set photos, it looked like they’d dropped the idea of electric cars, but now it seems like they’ve come up with a great workaround — cars look like regular old automobiles, but that doesn’t mean they’re not electrically powered.

Touché, Zack Snyder.

Yeah, that was a great little workaround. Seems they thought of everything -- or at least, I hope so.
