In January my boyfriend and I were eating at a food court downtown in the city and I went to use the bathroom. When I was in there this cockroach crawled across the wall infront of me. It was rather nasty....but I didn't scream or do anything to it. I figured I would just leave it alone. I don't like to kill things, even things like that.
Where in T.O was this? I'd like to know so that I can avoid that place in future. I've seen mice near the subway tracks a few times but never rats, thankfully. If I saw a cockroach in a bathroom I'd flush and quickly get out of there.

And concerning subways, I always stand directly behind a pillar when I'm waiting for one. The idea that someone could just push me into the oncoming train if they felt like it freaks me out.
In Toronto there is good reason to be cautious of the platform as there have been a high number of people being pushed onto the tracks. There is also an unusually high number of people jumping in front of the oncoming train (Taken from some news site):

Every year, like clockwork, about a dozen desperate souls throw themselves under the wheels of an onrushing subway train in this city.
The death toll is tragic and staggering.
From 1998 to 2007, 150 people died in subway suicides, according to TTC statistics obtained under Freedom of Information.
An additional 11 suicides occurred in 2008, TTC spokesman Brad Ross confirmed yesterday. That's 161 dead -- not including fatalities for this year.
The statistics were obtained by the Toronto Sun yesterday following a year-long appeal before Ontario's Information and Privacy Commissioner.
In that 10-year span, another 100 people attempted suicide, which often leads to disability and disfigurement. And the next year, 2008, eight tried to end their life
