Oh Lucky Star. You represent everything I hate about anime.

I just watched the opening to that.

Pffh, you haters! ;)

Okay, that was pretty much my original reaction too when I first saw the opening, but I really started to enjoy it after some time. It hasn't got much (okay, ANY) story, but it is fun. It really is. Maybe it hurt my brain real bad, but I think it is fun... :? :D

The first 15 episodes of Monster are on Hulu so I'm watching those. Also, Baccano looks like an interesting series and it's pretty short so I'll probably watch that too.

I guess. If watching girls talk about the most mundane things is your idea of "fun"

Yeah I think the show managed to hurt your brain real bad.

I just finished watching Baccano! and it was pretty awesome. Kind of confusing at first but it really picked up. I sort of want to read the parts of the light novels that weren't adapted into the anime now. Like, for one, I wouldn't mind finding out what that whole "polearm I'm going to cut Issac's ear now" thing is all about.

If you liked Baccano you may enjoy Durarara, it's definitely a slow burner as it takes a couple episodes to get interesting but I like it.

I finished watching Blue Submarine No. 6 and it was pretty much as awesome as I remember it being when I first saw it on Toonami.

Did anyone else know that Iron Man was getting an anime in the Fall?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4Q7xgxDJh4

Along with Wolverine?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8DsQT2tYSdk

Because I sure didn't. I'm looking forward to the Iron Man one, though.

Yeah taht was a while ago. The wolverine one looks like shit. And Logan isn't even in that show. It's some guy who apparently turns into Wolverine.

BUMP

I was just wondering whether anyone here knew anything about Gungrave and whether it was any good?

And... what are your opinions of Hellsing (original)? I have the first 2 volumes of the anime, and so far am not that enamoured by it, largely because the characters (imo) are ridiculously shallow and totally uninteresting, but at the same time it isn't stylish and awesome enough to keep me interested. I just wanted to know whether anyone had watched it and if it is worth finishing, as volumes are getting hard to come by and expensive.

I am willing to give the OVA a go though, as apparently that is more stylish and closer to the manga.

Also... opinions on Elfen Lied? I have heard mixed things of it being amazing/horrible and I was wondering what people here thought of it? I really regret not getting the complete collection for £20 at the expo yesterday, as that too seems to be hard to come by and pricey now. Are ADV going bust or something?

I watched it with a friend awhile ago, marathoned the entire series. It's fucking terrible. I have absolutely no idea why people liked the show and I suspect it had alot to do with the frequent amounts nudity included within it.

I watched I think the first two episodes.
Plot seemed shit, and there was a hot naked powerful bitch who seemed only to exist to make idiots mouths water.

Thank you :) I generally trust you guy's opinions on films because well... us geeks are superior ;) . I might give it a shot online, but I am now glad that I spent my money on No More Heroes 2 instead. The demo was great at the expo :D

Recently finished watching "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumya". Weird thing, that one. The words "Endless Eight" will bring me close to tears from now on, can't believe they actually had the balls to do something like this... But even though the series melted my brain: the protagonist, Kyon, got a place in my top 10 favourite male anime characters - the guy's just too cool! Opening and Ending

Also:
Hetalia - a show in which the history of the 20th century is told, starting with World War I, ending with... I don't even know how much 20th century it covers, urm, anyway... The funny part is that each nation is represented by exactly ONE character, each named after the country it embodies. The main focus of the first few episodes I've seen (very short btw) lies on Germany and Italy, with Japan joining later. The show's main interest seems to be making fun of 20th century Italy (hence the name "Hetalia", which is a combination of the japanese words for Italy and... "useless" ^^), and in an even shorter second show within the show to explain the origins of Italy. It's quite hilarious!

and:
K-ON! - well, it's just harmless, cute and pretty funny at times.

I saw episodes 0-2 of X and episodes 1-3 of Beck Mongolian Chop Squad.

Neither of them really grabbed me so I doubt that I'll pick them up again. I want to see Casshern Sins and Kaiba, though.

Edit: I did happen to like the opening themes of those first two even if I didn't care that much about the shows themselves.

I love Elfen Lied and it has nothing to do with the nudity or gore, especially when I think both are very well used in the series. It has a little bit of everything, but it's generally, extremely disturbing, but overall a great story with rather interesting characters. And yeah, ADV pretty much went bust from what I know.

Anyway, I've already made my love for Evangelion evident in another thread in this forum. Right now, I'm watching Death Note, Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei and Azumanga Daioh, all three which I'm loving (especially the first two), but I won't give a final verdict until I'm done with them.
