Saw this trailer at Kick-Ass. It was great seeing my friend going, "oh great another Michael Cera comedy" to "HOLY FUCKING SHIT WE NEED TO SEE THIS!!!!"

So the final volume is out in 9 days. Anyone else wetting themselves in anticipation?

I can't believe I'd forgotten. I've been so focused on my birthday that I'd forgotten about the book coming out two days later.

It's lucky there are so many book stores and comic shops in Portland, because I'm gonna scavenge them all come the 20th, flush with birthday cash.

I have to confess, I've still only read the first book all the way through.

Mostly I've just read passages here and there in book stores and online. Still, I feel I know the characters and moments well enough so that I feel like I could enjoy the movie when it comes out. Actually, it's almost preferable this way as I can go into the movie without having too much prior knowledge to raise my expectations.

wait...what?

wait...It's taking me awhile to process this information.

I pretty much thought of you as Mr. Scott Pilgrim. This is like finding out that van Gogh didn't paint his own paintings or that Godzilla just crushes miniature models of cities.

Yeah, I know, it's weird. The thing is I only read the first book because it happened to be at my local library (I can't remember if I read the second book or just sort of browsed through it). And Scott Pilgrim books are hard to come by at the library (ironic since the library has used Scott Pilgrim to promote it's graphic novel section). In general I find myself unwilling to spend the money on the books, and don't want to download them online. But if I ever see them at a local book store I'll pick them up, sit down, and read it in the store.

I have been following the movie production, however. That's because Edgar Wright has been very forthcoming with info and updates his website regularly. I think the reason I've been so pro Scott Pilgrim lately, though, is because the book and movie is set in my home town. That might not seem like a big deal if you live in a city that is regularly featured in major motion pictures, but it's sort of a Canadian thing to do so. Like being interested in a band you don't listen to when they suddenly make it big overseas. I want to the movie to be a success, and I want to see the city I live in represented in a non stereotypical way on the big screen, which is not something that comes by very often, if it comes by at all.

I wonder if Ramona will bring you your book :D

Also, I've read volume 4 now and I own five, which I've started but work prevents me from reading it tonight (stupid closing shifts)

I've to to say my favorite title so far has been "Scott Pilgrim and the Infinite Sadness" probably because it's a really good album
