Are the Watchmen comics (1-12 from 1986) very similar or identical to the story line in the graphic novel? I have read the novel and of course have seen the movie but I just ordered the original comics for my bf and was wondering what to expect.

Thanks in advance to anyone who has any info on this.

Identical. The graphic novel is just the twelve separate issues collected together in book form.

having it in the original form is always the best, although i personally prefer a one volume edition.

I'm in the process of collecting th eissues so I can frame them in one glorious frame.

Because I'm not going to touch the original issues with my mortal hands
