I'm pondering the decision to jump into Gailmans dream world...

Has anybody here actually read all 10 copies?
Is it really worth the money and time?

I respect the acheivements of Neil, but this is a huge commitment
I Just need a push off the diving board, or a lifeguard to tell me "dont jump!"

Any thoughts?

Why don't you try it out to see if you like it?
DC are offering the first issue of Vol.1 free
I've read Vol.1 and liked it, and one of these days I'm gonna read vol.2 somehow! (the cumulative libraries nearby have most of them, but not 2  )

I've read the Sandman: The Dream Hunters. It contains illustrations from one of my favorite artists, Yoshitaka Amano, of Final Fantasy fame. It's not exactly a comic book, more a book with illustrations and prose.

hey np!
I don't think they do it for most comics, just a few...
I was just clearing out my bookmarks today, and rediscovered a page '17 Sensational Graphic Novels Available for Free' incl Sandman!
Then I saw your post as luck would have it! 8-)

I've read the first five volumes, plus "Death: The High Cost of Living." Trust me, CSFRITZ, it would be a mistake not to start reading.

And that's not all, guys.

"Death: The High Cost of Living" will be adapted to film, scripted and directed by Neil Gaiman himself. It's going to be his directorial debut and Guillermo del Toro is exec producing, which automatically makes it awesome.

Alas, the project was derailed by the writers' strike and its current progress is unknown.

If you want to read literate, intelligent storylines, with some of the most original and interesting characters in comics then yes you want to read the Sandman series by Gaiman.

For me he is up there with Ol' uncle Al as the most creative and intelligent comics writers out there today.

I've been reading this series in order. I just finished Season of Mists and I'm pretty in awe of Neil. I don't really have anything to say, but I think this thread should be put back into use because Sandman is amazing and worthy of discussion.

I've got my first Sandmann GN more than 10 yeas ago and I've read all issues many times sice then and it ist always a pleasure. It's a great stroy with amazing illustrations. Only the colors I din't like so much. It too harmless, too less expression.

It is realy one of the best GNs, like the storys about John Defool from Jodorowski and Moebius.

Freaking love Sandman. DO IT. I've read as many of the spin-off series as I could get my hands on, but I still need to find the Corinthian's side story and some of those out-of-print graphic novels about the people from dream-land doin' their thing. UGG my lack of money is terrible for my comic obsessions.

I have the first volume but I can't find 2.
There are other volumes available so I was wondering if they had to be read in order?
