Because they are better entrepeneurs than DC, which is a good and a bad thing.

This reminded of Geoff Johns' response to Marvel's cinematic universe , did anyone ever saw that ?

He basically said that DC's characters were "strong enough" to tackle anything Marvel threw on the silver screen, and because Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, and others are such landmark characters, they don't need to pull the same "stunts" as Marvel.

The amount of FAIL right there blew my mind at the time I read that !

Well, he does make a point, I mean Batman's (complete) movie gross is probably higher than a good chunk of Marvel movie's put together

Remember that people didn't go to see The Dark Knight because it was Batman alone, they went to see it because it was Nolan's Batman :)

Eh... don't think Nolan was a brand name with manstreamers before TDK like he is after TDK and Inception.

Well they did, but not because it was Nolan, just because #1 was good. It's like star Wars, people didn't rush to Empire because of George Lucas, they went because of new hope

Memento and The Prestige have pretty big followings though.

I said in the mainstream, I'm sure most mainstreamers don't know Nolan did Memento

Hate to break it to you, but Empire wasn't made by George Lucas.

I know, it is Irvin Kershner (I don't care about spelling) but you get my point, they went ebcause of the movie's not the director, most mainstreamers don't care who directs movies

Well another thing to keep in mind is that "the mainstreamers" all know who batman is, because of countless other adaptions, however they aren't (or weren't) very familar with Iron Man, Nick Fury, Thor and Cap.

I have yet to see someone complain about a white Nick Fury.

It's bound to happen any time in the future, I can still remember whenever somebody talked about "Behind Blue Eyes" people inmediately thought about Limp Bizkit.

FAIL !
