I like the overall dystopia atmosphere of 80s sci-fi but there is still something unique in this piece, I mean, RoboCop I by verhoeven.

There was going to be a remake. The good people at MGM had established it as the summer movie tentpole that would save their company. Darren Aronofsky was attached to direct for a while, until Black Swan started moving forward and Aronofsky bowed out. Prep on Robocop fell apart without him and MGM cancelled it to conserve their last few dollars.

Bottom line: The remake ain't happening anytime soon.

Well I'd rather see an Aronofsky Wolverine movie than a Robocop one anyway, so it aint a tragedy to me.

I know he's doing the wolverine. Wishful thinking just got the best of me.

i'd like to think it'll happen after The Wolverine, but on the other hand i'm very scared that modernisation will ruin robocop.

What's this Aronovsky fuzz anyway? Might due to the lack of elaborating, I guess.

RoboCop reserves absolutely no hope for humanity. The Dark Knight offers and ending of deniable commitment; Watchmen provides uncertanity at least; but for RoboCop, even with the seemingly justifiable happy ending, the established order hasn't been hindered for a single bit.
