I think it's obvious how good a soundtrack is when you can practically watch the entire movie in your head while listening to the soundtrack.

Off topic: AvatarIII: Rob Zombie was obscenely good fun, confetti cannons, balloons, beachballs, bouncy riffs, massive screens, fire, robots with laser eyes, a massive alien. It was great, the whole crowd in Brixton were jumping all the way back to the sound desk, and most of his setlist was based off Sinister Urge and Hellbilly Deluxe, the 2 White Zombie covers also sounded great. He took forever to set the show up though. All in all it was a very fun night and he should be great at Download.

On topic:

I assumed that a band by the name of Chimp Spanner would be bat shit mental and all over the place, but however technical the music is, it is all instrumental and strangely relaxing. It's not like the pounding polyrhythms of Meshuggah, it's far more relaxed, and very, very good.

cool, thanks, sounds like you had an awesome time, i guess they won't have quite so much "stuff" at Download, but i'm looking forward to it more than ever now!

Don't know whether all of this is grind or not, but it's all heavy, and it's all nasty:

I've been listening to acoustic music, namely:

(Jonathan Coulton) Some of you may know him as he's awesome and nerdy

and

More brilliant acoustic music that isn't suicidally depressing or irritatingly cheerful. Genius.

i was never too fond of it when it first came out, but on this listen, directly after listening to all their early albums up to Justice in reverse Chronological order, it is a lot better, i think when i first heard it my brain was still making connections to St Anger, my only complaint is the a lot the the lyrics suck,

I thought the songs on Death Magnetic were pretty good, but I really didn't like the production on the album, not that the sound quality was bad, it just didn't sound "right" to me, I can't really put my finger on it.

The entire album is infamous for being very very very compressed, as part of the "loudness war".

The above picture displays the differences between the guitar hero version (how the album should be) and the cd version (how Metallica decided it should be).

A more practical demonstration of the differences can be found in this video:

The new album from Protest the Hero is streaming over here, and it's rather fantastic if you like technical metal. It has clean vocals most of the way through, and it's rather spectacular so far. Artwork is beautiful too:
