I do find the movie more and more frustrating as time goes by..... because it's a good film, but it's just a few fundamental things short of being a masterpiece. With more consistent acting, a little re-structuring, some re-writes here and there...it could really be spectacular.

Well, I was looking through a 501 movies you should see before dying book and watchmen was in for Action and Adventure... but movies like The Dark Knight were not... so I think watchmen is starting to get credit

yeah but having TDK in a book like that would be redundant, the kind of people that buy books like that would probably have already seen TDK

But Star Wars is one of the greatest films of all time. TDK is not.

But Star Wars is also one of the most popular movies. The way AvatarIII framed his post was that the list was mainly movies people hadn't seen... but the inclusion of things like Star Wars, LOTR, Raiders of the Lost Arc, Laurence of Arabia, and others indicates that the list is not unscene gems, but just good movies

you'd be surprised about how many people have not seen those movies, and just know of their existence, but just never got around to watching them.

Star Wars is not a must-see. There, I said it.

Well, nothing's a must-see. Depends on what type of movie you like, though.

If you like good movies, you might want to watch Star Wars. Just' sayin'.

I'll concede that AYB most likely knows what he's talking about, but I think he's thinking in terms of being a film student. Star Wars probably isn't a necessary film to study and learn from.

But I think that if someone is just an average film lover in general, then they should definitely see the original trilogy.

Because they are GREAT movies.

You know, once in a while, it wouldn't hurt us to say WHY to AYB every time a film is or isn't good :P !

i'd say it is, for no more reason than the fact that everyone knows about it, and has an opinion on it, regardless of if they've actually seen it or not

this is a forum! People argue, shit hits the fan, ziller posts a retardedly obscure picture, we say dr.B looks like Novak, smutty sinks my battleship, and everyone nukes each other!

But for the past 10 or so posts here... people are... ARGH!
Everyone needs to quit making so much sense, cease the civility, and stop being so goddamned agreeable!
You're making my head hurt!

I think he might think that by insulting popular (with critics and audences) movies like Star wars or Raiders he's sounding like he knows a lot about film... which he does, but I think he thinks that by being iconoclastic he'll seem more knowledgable.

Could be, but I honestly think he is just breaking our balls.

And without wanting to sound like a dick, if he doesn't explain why he thinks "X" movie is not a must-see, then I can't take his opinion seriously.
