It appears that we can expect a Blade Runner prequel/sequal, but thankfully NOT a remake:

What would upset the gods more? A sequal/prequal to Watchmen or Blade Runner?

Seeing as to how the actors from blade runner are all incredibly old now, and would no doubt be replaced by other actors, and drawn characters never age, it's a very interesting question/comparison for you to raise. I would happily read a Comedian War Journal written by Moore and Gibbons, but I wouldn't watch a Hollywood written film sequel of Watchmen. I would watch a Blade Runner sequel that was made in the late eighties or early nineties, but the idea of them doing one now seems like a bit of a Tron Legacy style cash-in.

I love the idea of sequels, and it's very hard when people ask me that question, because I would ALWAYS want a sequel to anything I like, even those things that simply can't have a sequel, like Watchmen.

That doesn't mean I would be satisfied with bad sequels, and if there's a chance that what we would get from Hollywood is a bad sequel, then it is blasphemous.

I doubt they will use the same characters in the BR sequel/prequel. I think it will be different characters in the same world. The story will probably be just loosely connected to the story in BR.

Here's a thought: What if they did the same thing with Watchmen? Different characters in the same world.

Obviously I want them to just leave well enough alone! But it's interesting to think about.
