March 21st was the album release date I was waiting for, and loads of my albums I ordered came in the post this week, so:
Image
Great technical deathy thrash metal. Album is way too long though, 80 minutes, and it isn't varied enough to justify the length.
Image
Unsure what genre this would classify as, but definitely somewhere within the tech metal/mathcore/slightly grind influenced bracket. It's only 19 minutes long but it's original and brilliant. I have 1/50 hand made CDs coming my way, but they gave me the mp3s in my inbox on the day of release
Image
This arrived on my door mat this morning. The music is as beautiful and as intricate as the album art. I've hardly scratched the surface of it so far as it is a very progressive album, but, from what I've heard so far, it's brilliant.
Image
Finally, some crossover grind. It's really good, I've been streaming it on Spotify as I couldn't make my mind up as to whether I liked it enough to buy it, but, having lived with it for a bit, I think I will purchase tomorrow as it is available to download for $6.66 or £4 (ish) somewhere.

Naturally, the songs are more interesting when juxtaposed with Snyder's imagery, but they're surprisingly good on their own too.

But I guess a lot of the time a good soundtrack will make you revisit the scenes in your head, so it's like juxtaposition in your head?

I've been listening to a lot of "non-metal" recently :o
Image
This one gets better with every listen, at first I found it bland and repetitive, but I went back to it and am really enjoying it, I just think it is more subtle than I was expecting, and I was a tad disappointed as their debut is absolutely fantastic. My favourite song of theirs is Used For Glue
Image
I like this album, but I got a bit bored towards the end. I will go back to it though, as I have only listened to it once so far.
Image
I've been streaming this one over on NPR. Absolutely beautiful acoustic music with intelligent lyrics as opposed to self absorbed music about how you're sexy and attractive and can sing beautifully and make millions but can't get a girlfriend. My contender for Album of the Year so far for me. Definitely go look up their other stuff.

Edit: And it plays GREAT on Audiosurf.

That is so weird.

Also, is it common to have graduation ceremonies this early in the year?

Ah, well, at least it wasn't the soundtrack for this:

It was a graduation for the qualifications that I gained last year.
The tasmanian education department is incredibly slow with everything it does.

Yes. I'm posting about The Mountain Goats album, All Eternals Deck again. My CD arrived in the post this morning. I can not stress enough how good this album is. It's folky acoustic music and it's wonderful. The overall concept of the album is about a rare deck of tarot cards that existed, there's sleeve notes about this in the CD, but every song on the album seems to tell a different story. The lyrics are brilliant, his voice is beautiful, the instrumentation is top notch. Please, listen to it on youtube, stream it online somewhere, acquire it from somewhere, but by all means, just listen to it!

God damn this album is weird. I'm scratching my eyeballs out waiting for Devin Townsend preorders to go up as well, as they aren't available internationally until next Saturday apparently, originally it was meant to be Monday.

THIS.

Found it at a Barnes and Noble, and I was blown away at how amazing it is.

Ever listened to Odd Future before? I'm not quite sure what to make of them just yet... though I like their music. Check out their Radical mixtape and Earl's album. Oh and Tyler's first... BASTARD
