We're watching Escaflowne and Durarara!! now.

Escaflowne has some pretty remarkable visuals and some superb music so I'd definitely recommend that if you like the sort of fantasy/mech genre.

And I can't recommend Durarara!! enough. The characters are great, the story is intriguing, and it's just a ton of fun so far.

Watched Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water and The Melancholy of Harumi Suzumiya this past semester. They were both pretty good, I enjoyed them.

And now I think I'm going to watch this, it sounds amazing.

Haven't watched any anime for ages.

It's weird, it combines supernatural and action elements, but there's also a lot of comedy involved. I think you'd really enjoy it. And it's 25 episodes, I believe.

I thought it was fairly disappointing. I fucking loved Baccanno though.

I loved Baccano too, but I actually liked Durarara more.

I love Haruhi. I've yet to see the movie, though. Your recommendation for Nadia has made enthused by it, even though I already was buzzed for it thanks ot the fact that Hideaki Anno created it.

I really liked it, but you might want to skip the island filler episodes when it switched studios for awhile. Only the book ends to that part of the series are really worth watching unless you're a die-hard completist.

Yeah, I heard that arc is borderline awful if not totally awful. I hope I can see the whole show soon.

It wasn't anything amazing, but it was pretty cool regardless and the soundtrack was pretty great. I suspect the OVA will be much better, though.

I haven't seen any good anime lately.
Any suggestions?

He'll need a time machine to go back to when it was good.

Didn't enjoy this version myself. Once the cool factor had sort of worn off there wasn't enough to keep me interested, and I really hated the dialogue. Was never bothered enough to check out the OVA :(

What is OVA? I've heard out occasionally in connection to anime, but never worked out what it meant, or bothered looking it up!

They cancelled Sym-bionic Titan.

Yeah, it really did just have the coolness going for it, mostly, and the story didn't really go anywhere interesting, but I think the manga and OVA will go more in-depth with things.

Edit: Just watched the first installment of the OVA. It was pretty great, but I'm not gonna watch any more until I read more of the manga first.

Except there's plenty of fairly entertaining western cartoons. Don't let nostalgia blind you to that fact.

Also, for anyone that needs something fairly epic to watch:

Image
Gankutsuou: Count of Monte Cristo

Possibly one of the finest shows I've seen in my years as a casual anime-viewer.

Looks interesting... I might look for it to download.
