Heavy Metal 2000 - 7/10

Doesn't really stack up to the original Heavy Metal, or to be fair, doesn't really stack up to the Taarna segment. Julie/FAKK 2, is badass enough, but Taarna could quiet entire rooms with a cold stare.
Taarna was mysterious and beautiful, Julie is simply a competent protagonist, in a simply competent movie.

The interesting stuff like the space ports and such are well designed, but we actually see so little of it that its not enough to carry the slack left by the rest of the film.

The story is rushed, in your face and then... the payoff is lame and short-lived.

It had potential though, but the story should've come in after Julie has been hunting Tyler for years, shes become detached and heartless, but secretly caring about her partner dude, i forget his name, who's so reckless and fun-loving, he reminds her of brighter times.
"After years of hunting the man who killed her entire race, things are about to change after they both become entangled in an ancient prophecy that could unleash untold horror into the universe! Now the galaxy is their personal battlefield... prepare for WAR!"
what could've been truly epic like that ^, instead is a mild backward excursion into bad cgi, cheap animation, but some surprisingly epic one-liners.

Even after a couple decades, the original Heavy Metal is still awesome, unique, and keeps me coming back for more. Heavy Metal 2000.... not really BAD, but nowhere NEAR classic.

It's classic in that the character of Niteowl acts exactly as expected and the character of WJK acts exactly as expected.
It's like a Seinfeld or Sopranos scene.

The more I hear of Niteowl's plight, the more I feel that the only logical decision he can make is to back off. She doesn't sound like she's worth all the bullshit surrounding her. Hell, no girl is.

I'm not some villain that's out to get you, and it's not like I intentionally single you out or carry any animosity or biased against you.
I don't load up the forum and say "AHA! NiteOwl has posted! What will I say this time to piss him off!"
What I'm about to say will come as a suprise to nobody here, but if I ever see anything that I regard as stupid or lame I will usually vocalise my thoughts about it, and I expect anyone to do the same to me if they disagree with something I'm saying. This doesn't only apply to you but to everyone (just ask feliciano and doctor brooklyn, and to an extent godziller).
I'm not bullying you for no reason and I don't dislike you or bag you out out of nowhere, my comments are always preceded by a post of yours, I don't walk into a thread that you haven't posted in and say "NITEOWL IS SO DUM" and I've never said to someone "if niteowl posted this i would think it was dumb", or for instance say somebody gave a movie I didn't like a high rating, i wouldn't say "I WOULD EXPECT SHIT LIKE THIS FROM NITEOWL".
