Guys... The Unicorn is the name of a boat in this story... Nothing to do with an actual unicorn... So maybe you should stop focusing on that.

That's what I was trying to point out with my Raiders Of The Lost Ark reference.

When Raiders Of The Lost Ark first came out, nobody had any idea who the fuck indiana jones was, but it looked like fun and it had the names of two very successful film makers attatched to it. Of course, I bet there was some guy walking around going "What the fuck? Ark? I don't wanna see no movie about two of every kind of animal."

That guy must've been a complete imbecile if he saw the poster and still thought it was about Noah's ark

This is different, how can The Secret Of The Unicorn be misleading in any way ?

the secret could be a lesser second horn,

how the hell is a casual movie goer going to know that until they say it explicitly in the trailer.

Hurm... Let's see...

- First, it MUST be explicit in the trailer anyway !
- Movie poster with a boat (and no unicorn) on it should help. Like the cover of the comic book for example.
- I could say that they know it because they read it when they were kids, but after reading this topic I understand that it's not the case in America (though it seems to be the case in other english-speaking countries).
- Capital "U" can help. I mean, it's not the unicorn, it's The Unicorn, so it's obviously a name. (Except if it's a unicorn named The Unicorn, but that doesn't seem to make much sense...)
- If people are stupid enough not to go see a movie, moreover a Spielberg movie, because there's the word "unicorn" on it, maybe they don't deserve to see it ! :P

No, seriously, I trust the Hollywood guys to make it clear for everybody that it's not about unicorns before the film comes out. They know how to do these things.

(Well, sometimes they don't, like the time they made people believe that Zodiac was a slasher, so that the people that would've liked it didn't go see it, and the kids that saw it didn't like it, but that's another story.)

all good points, except maybe the capitalization thing, most movie titles are capitalized throughout, just look at this topic title, and also i doubt people really think about capitalization when they read something, i certainly think people with english as a first language don't.
as someone who knows tintin from the cartoons rather than the books, i had no idea it was a ship and not an actual unicorn until this morning.

And that supposed to make me feel better about that title how...?

Regardless of what the term "Unicorn" means, it's still a bad subtitle. Why not just call it "The Adventures of Tintin?"

but it's a black cursed pearl, therefore making it not girly.

perhaps they should do what Narnia movies do, and draw most of the attention to "The Chronicles of NARNIA" bit, but have the sub title kind of small underneath.

So it's obvious what must be done.

The Adventures of Tintin: The Secrets of The Baby Murdering Unicorns.

I just fixed the title.

I'm not going to be as bold as to say that this is going to be bad, because for starters it does not look bad at all, it looks pretty great for a non-pixar animated movie.

But this would've been much better with real actors.

It doesn't help that Tin Tin is the only one who looks semi realistic. Everyone else looks like their cartoon counterparts. It's a weird meshing of realistic and not realistic.
