I'd only see this if it were a musical.

What's with the sad face, this looks like what one would expect from a Batman musical.

it's a "wtf" face, not sad, i'm just baffled by the entire concept of making superhero musicals.

Yeah, that looks stupid.

None of the characters look right, and that Batmobile is just pitiful.

This is a stage production of Batman, most likely aimed at young kids. Designing costumes for the stage is not the same as designing them for movies or television. They tend to need to be more over the top so that they stand out. "None of the characters look right"? What?

I know who each one of these characters are just judging from that photo, so far so good. Really, you guys have unrealistic expectations. This isn't a dramatic live adaptation of "Knightfall". This is a Batman musical. And the fact that they even have a Batmobile in this is impressive.

^ But it's all derivative from one work or the other.

And quite frankly, Batman just doesn't work for a musical, hell I don't think even Spider-Man does !

What, you mean like it's not cohesive as a representation of the Batman universe?

Where did that come from ? I said it's derivative, we've seen all of the costume designs before in other movies, and even in the comics themselves, it's not like they are making much effort in the creativity department.

Besides, I wouldn't be too sure this is for kids, you don't sell, live, adult, broadway musicals to kids.

Right, so it wouldn't be cohesive. If, for example, Batman is inspired by Tim Burton's movies, while the Riddler and Penguin look to be based on the series from the 60's, it wouldn't look uniform, would it?

How about The Lion King? Seussical the Musical? Beauty and the Beast?

t3cii, what are you talking about ? I'm really not getting it.

All I'm saying is that the costumes are heavily uninspired, which just makes me think a bunch of producers bought the rights for a musical piece, gathered some dancers and singers, and made carbon copies of the suits to cash in on a succesful franchise.

Why do you assume that a Batman musical has to be automatically for kids ?

Never mind, I think we're talking about different things here.

feliciano182 wrote:

There's only so many ways to interpret characters that have been re imagined again and again, a countless number of times. If they took many liberties with the costumes people would be complaining about that too. Kind of like your complaints about Bane's mask.

Given the light, brightly coloured tone they're going with, and the very nature of having comic book characters sing songs, I just assume this is geared towards a younger audience, but I could be wrong.

to be honest, i think the character designs are actually really good, and on the whole, pretty faithful

the riddler and catwoman look like they've come right from the pages of the comics,

robin and batman's costumes clearly take schumaker inspiration, but have both dialed it back to be a bit more faithful to the comics too and joker looks just the right amount manic, and has a faithfull costume

Yeah, I'd watch this. I wouldn't be expecting The Dark Knight, but it sure as hell looks fun.
