Upcoming “webisodes” will be so much more than a simple slide show of comic book panels.

The ultimate DVD set will be even juicier with this on it. : )

I wonder if they'll include the Black Freighter or skip it since they're already doing it as a separate project.

Who's "we" watched it?

I thought I was being left out on something. I'm guessing you and Curi saw it?

Anyway, sounds pretty exciting.

And DD, don't you mean "Last month," not "Last May?"

About a dozen 22-26 minute webisodes. Will each chapter have it's own webisode? Also, will they be available to own? Very cool btw. Can't wait.

I think this sounds like a great way to introduce more people to the comic. Does anyone know if there will be narration like the May article said, or if it will just be music?

I think the actors are narrating it.

What a wonderful idea!
This will prepare and excite fans and "not yet" fans alike.
Thanks for the story DD, and again making my day alittle easier to see that silver lining in the march 09 cloud!

Would they look anything like this?:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubG06RD7CaQ

This is an old music video for a Toronto rapper called Infinite. I suspect it was created by university students. It uses drawings with very basic and minimal animation.

a pity I can't open it here, but I suspect it will be something close to the 60's Marvel cartoons, right? just freshier of course and with a cleaner look.

Yes, very much like this, except with Gibbons' actual comic art. Since there was no voiceover in the trailer, I don't know if they will move lips on the characters, though.

"We" just meant me. In order for Curi to see it I'd have to email it to him and I'm not taking any chances. The source was very clear about making sure that the file he sent me would not get leaked and also asked that I do not post the actual video - which was an easy decision for me as I don't want DC or WB suing me.

I find it strange of WB to risk spoiling the plot to people new to the story like that. I'm not saying it wouldn't be cool if they did, I would actually prefer it, but I just find it strange. I'm expecting more of an (as stated before) introduction to the universe and the characters with backgrounds, ect...

But what do I know.

Personally, I find it rather strange that WB would release a trailer for this. That's basically releasing promotional material for promotional material.

In any case, I congratulate DD for the scoop and I can't wait to see the animation for myself.

everything zack has fight for so far has to do with paying the proper and deserved hommage to the original material; however, also conciliating commercial interest that every damn studio have.

now i'm not sure if he's doing it for the same reason, giving fans and non-fans a way to compare works, or simply justifying things he won't be able to include, or maybe providing people with a second option in case they don't like the movie.

But that's not strange for high anticipate movies. Sometimes they even made a teaser of the trailer (King Kong for example) :) And the Motion Comic is promotional material, but it's also part of the Watchmen franchise, and it's going to be release in a separate DVD, so...

Damn, I predicted in my head they'd make it like you're describing DDC!
My vids will be useless
At the same time I'm happy if it's gonna be as good as you say
The main question for me is who's gonna narrate it?
Will it be some fairly anonymous voice actor? Or the film actors?
It would be so awesome if it's the latter, though we can't assume that...

Any idea when this trailer will be released to the public, DDC? If it says '2008', then I'd suppose the trailer'll come out this half of the year, because it wouldn't make sense to say that if the vids were coming out, say, the next month...

So, if the movie disappoints, do you think this will compensate? I mean it's gonna be super-accurate to the comic isn't it? Even Vynson wouldn't be able to criticise it!

I don't know. The source who submitted it to me said it could be just a motion test or a proof of concept, in which case it may never be officially released, however, it was completely polished so I can't see why they wouldn't release it at some point prior to the first webisode.

It is the comic, only moving. From the little I saw, I wouldn't doubt of some Watchmen fans end up liking the webisodes more that the film itself.

Im thrilled about the amount and length of these that they are making. 12 webisodes at 22-26 mins, thats equal to a full TV show season. I cant wait to see them.

Yes, they sound like they'd be pretty fantastic on the DVD too....
though the runtime will push up the price considerably, i'm sure, even if they're available online, for free
