Pretty good stuff.

correct me if i'm wrong, but that looks like a hipster.

It looks like an album cover to me.

i meant the girl on the cover, very hipsterish.

I think it looks more like a computer screen.

The girl on the cover definitely does NOT look like a computer screen.
Anyways, hipster girls wear blazers and second-hand floral skirts/dresses, and the glasses in the picture are all wrong because they have lenses in them.

I can't help but remember disagreeing with your definition of the word hipster.
Mine is someone who listens to indie music, reads vice magazine and cares about fashion. Pretty sure it's the same with most people.
It has nothing to do with people pretending to like things, however, people that pretend to like things do not have a dress code.

I won't deny your points (except we don't have Vice magazine thaty I know of) but there can be more criteria that those three things, no? It could just be poor poller sampling but most the people who try and get snooty and arrogant about comics and movies without knowing Millar from Miller from Bryan Q. Miller that I know fit the hipster "lifestyle"

Listened as background music while catching up on the forum. Energetic and fun, but maybe not so different to their last album. I'll give it a proper evaluation at some point.

Im currently listening to this...

Hallelujah Picassos - Rewind The Hateman
http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/rewind ... d475528148

My old band from New Zealand, a retrospective compilation.
We were infamous, and have since faded into legend/cult/who? status with our stuff deleted and unavailable for sale for some time.
Best thing (for me) is that it's all been remastered. The original pressings sucked so I haven't heard these tracks sounding so clear and loud since we mixed 'em in the studio.

There's a review here:

Agalloch- Ashes Against the Grain

Been listening to this a lot lately as I have just got home from uni, and been away from my guitar for a while. Picking it up again and playing along to the rhythm parts on this album because they sound fantastic, but they're really easy to play. Very, very good band.

Sorry for the double post but I thought it would be interesting to see what people's favourite albums of the year are. I'm not sure how many of us regularly listen to music/check out new bands, so I didn't want to make a separate thread. The reason why I didn't see many films this year is probably because all of my money now goes on music, both live and recorded.

So, my list:

1. Altar of Plagues- Mammal (Amazing amazing amazing post black metal from Ireland. A must have if you're even remotely interested to know what that sounds like)

2. Woods of Desolation- Torn Beyond Reason (Melodic black metal from Australia (not symphonic). Quite depressing, but never overbearingly so (unless you look up the god awful lyrics, but I'm willing to overlook those for now)

3. Wormrot- Dirge (Grindcore from Singapore, 19 minutes of pain. A perfect band for those who still miss Insect Warfare)

4. The Mountain Goats- All Eternals Deck (Acoustic album with beautiful lyrics, each song is like a short story. I also love his voice)

5. Anaal Nathrakh- Passion (Vicious blackened grind from Birmingham, pure filth. Ridiculous at times, but always brilliant)

6. Trap Them- Darker Handcraft (Hardcore with a strong Entombed influence and a peppering of grind. Clocking in at just under half an hour, this is one of the angriest albums of the year)

7. Origin- Entity (Technical death metal at it's finest. Despite the dense technicality on show, there are still "songs" there, making it enjoyable. Made my brains dribble out of my ears)

8. Cloudkicker- Let yourself Be Huge (Really pretty 1 man post-rock project, available to download for free at cloudkicker.bandcamp.com)

9. Ash Borer- Ash Borer (Another vicious black metal project with a strong punk influence in places)

10. Russian Circles- Empros (Brilliantly balanced post rock album, quite long, but never feels like it)

11. Protest the Hero- Scurrilous (Progressive/technical/melodic, not as good as their previous effort, Fortress, but still rather excellent)

12. Disma- Towards the Megalith (Gnarly death-doom. Absolutely astounding)

13. Aliases- Safer than Reality (Short, sharp, technical metal(core) at it's finest)

14. Cormorant- Dwellings (A mixture of black metal, death metal, thrash metal and 70s prog, this album is an absolute wonder, truly unique sound)

15. Ancient VVisdom- A Godlike Inferno (Acoustic Satanic worship music, obviously rather cheesy, but feels authentic, and is a great listen)

16. Primordial- Redemption at the Puritan's Hand (Epic black metal from Ireland, thundering riffs and an amazing vocal performance)

17. Caina- Hands that Pluck (One man post-black metal project from Manchester. Fantastic stuff, his final album)

18. Sylosis- Edge of the Earth (British techy thrashy groovy stuff, very good)

19. Solstafir- Svartir Sandar (Astounding Icelandic post-rock, highly recommended)

20. Rival Schools- Pedals (Post hardcore, full of good songs)
