Now I'm imagining Batman struggling, trying his best, to come up with an abbreviation to justify calling his plane "The Bat"...

CMON BRUCE, THINK

I really think some of you are over reacting, so t's called The Bat, like t3cii said would calling it the Batwing really make it that much truer to the comics or be any less silly? This seems like the most trivial change to get nerd rage working over, especially considering the changes that have been made else where.

The Batwing just sounds cooler.

Pretty much, did we ever really hear "The Tumbler" ?

Lucius said it when the Tumbler was first introduced. I'd point out the Batpod as another example, but Alfred used the name of that one as well. ("In the middle of the day, Alfred? Not very subtle.")

I expect this will be a similar case. One throwaway mention of the name and it's just Batman's vehicle du jour from there on out.

Battle Aviation Tumbler?

Not a bad suggestion, but I think we can do better. Possibly something that doesn't describe the craft itself so much as what powers it (e.g. The "Twin Ion Engine" fighter).

I'm trying, but God help me, I can't get past "Alternating Thrust." Though "Turbine" could work as well, I suppose.

Where do you get "Alternating Thrust" from? And I derped as I realized it.

And my guess for calling it "The Bat" is because it doesn't fit the description of the Batplane or Batwing. The closest thing they could use is the Batcopter, but even that's a stretch.

Also, Batman Assault Transport/Turbine anyone?

I'm glad it's not called the Batwing, because, well, it looks fucking nothing at all like the Batwing.

Seriously though, all the other changes that have been made and this is the one that gets people worked up and confused?

In all fairness to the truth, it's not really a change...........possibly.

The Bat may be a completely new vehicle, it doesn't seem to be like the prototypical stylized stealth jet The Batwing usually is.

Also, I wouldn't say that this is the one change that has gotten people worked up and confused, I think people have raised, very seriously, their concerns about Bane through the eyes of Nolan, among other constant criticisms which I'm not going to get into because I'm falling sleep.

I suppose, you have a half point with that. I know some people have gotten worked up over changes to Bane (I'm among them) but for the most part even stuff like that seems to be met with "In Nolan we Trust"

Uuuhh...people who complain about Bane, The Bat, the probable lack of fantastic elements like Ra's Al Ghul's lazarus pits (not confirmed though, everything can happen), never say "In Nolan We Trust".

I believe he's talking about those who are Pro-Nolan.

Yeah, I said that most the people who have complained at some point have resigned to the fact that Nolan will make it amazing.

Yeah, I agree. I'm at that stage where I'm just gonna hold off making any further judgment about the movie until I actually SEE it.
