Michael Wilkinson spoke at the 5D | FLUX conference earlier this week, and dropped a few tidbits regarding Superman's iconic "S" costume design and how it will tie in to Krypton's history..
Quote:
Wilkinson explained that since they created a “neo-medieval” back story for Krypton (which included the creation of a new language), it made sense to utilize the suit design as part of the mythology. “Everyone on Krypton wears this suit,” he suggested. Using ZBrush and rapid prototyping, Wilkinson came up the blue/gray color and chain-linked look. “It has function and purpose and a logic to this fantastical world,” he added.

It looks... alien. Not bad at all.

The former was Clark Kent grabbing a truck with a crying man inside of it while flying through the middle of a tornado. It looked incredible. Henry Cavill can fly, and he can hold a truck in one arm. Zack Snyder brings his usual visual flair, but somehow is still unlike anything he has made before. It felt like a Superman comic. Real heroism.

This is exactly what I wanted to hear, I knwo a lot of people here are going to groan loud enough for a deaf person to hear them when I say this... but I'm glad that this movie allegedly has the feel of a comic book.

I'm to assume they haven't done post on this, without Snyder's flairs this might be a little lame.

Costumes...

I like Supes costume more n' more, it's more traditionally 'Superman' than my first impressions had me thinking, without being slavish to the comics. Losing the belt n' panties was a good idea.

I've always liked the costume, it's better than the Returns costume at least, with a decent sized emblem, the only thing i'm not sold on is the texture, I'm dreading that once again they decided to texture the costume with loads of tiny little S emblems.... urgh.
But I love the Jor-El costume, i love the intricate almost biological look to it, but most of all I can't wait to see the Zod armour.

Oh, I got very confused until I looked up a close-up picture of the suit. I thought you actually meant little Ss, not the crest itself.
