Nite-owl has got to be drunk.
Firstly, pretty much everybody knows that Dan is meant to be Ted Kord, along with the fact that everybody knows that The Comedian is meant to be a cross between Nick Fury, Peacemaker and Groucho Marx.
And that last comment he just left has just left me speechless.

Folks- I was referring to the screenplay of The Punisher, not the character himself. The dialogue, the treatment of The Punisher in this 2004 movie. It was actually a compliment to Alan Moore to have a character with the drive of Rorscharch... the 2004 movie treatment of The Punisher can easily be translated to Rorscarch sans machine guns naturally.

Sorry dude, but I'm not buying it. That movie is pretty heavily influenced by Garth Ennis's widely acclaimed Marvel Knights Punisher run, also known as Welcome Back Frank, and it really doesn't seem very Rorschachian to me.
I think though, that they do share a certain attitude, that of the typical "one against the world" anti-hero archetype.

Its such a popular archetype, that its impossible to say Rorschach has a coin on it.
If thats their only perceived connection... its a rather tenuous one at best.
Almost every other comic hero ever has been made within the same archetype.

You do know that scene from Mad Max (1979) entirely inspired Saw, right? Also, it's got about 6 years on Watchmen (1985/6), if you didn't notice. And yes, Dirty Harry inspired the Rorschach character.

Also, Rorscarch was a real loner.

Because the first Saw movie is fucking awesome.
And yes I knew that. I specifically recall hearing Leigh Whanell cite that scene at the end of Mad Max as the direct inspiration for the basic idea of what became Saw. Classic stuff.
