The greatest living artist has died. I found out about it seven months later. Jeff Jones dies owing me $1800.00 for a commission of "anything you choose, of any size, in any medium". Dozens of others were also gyped out by Jeff Jones.

Truth is, after he became a she, Jeff became more and more isolated- painting less and less. The work Jeff did produce is museum-worthy. I and dozens others were financing his doom as he hit rock bottom in the early 2000's, claiming nervous breakdown and subsequent bankruptcy. Still did con appearances though.

Wanted my own little piece.

Even after a Google search, I have no idea what jmpet is talking about.

If jmpet would care to provide me with an explanation, he's perfectly welcome to send me a PM. Until then, this thread is closed.

EDIT: So, jmpet sent me a PM. Apparently, the original post was in reference to Jeffrey Catherine Jones, an artist who died nearly a year ago. And jmpet apparently wanted to talk about her work and her life here. Whatever.

If anyone wants to join him, I'm keeping my word and re-opening the thread. Just keep it civil, folks.

I did not know he was so obscure to comic fans- after all, went from comic cover art to oil paintings for $10,000 each... I thought this was common knowledge that he transformed the medium, that's all.

I just read the wiki page and all I could find was that he/she worked on National Lampoon and Heavy Metal. Can you enlighten us with other examples as to how Mr./Ms. Jones transformed the medium?

I've never heard of Jones. Artwork seems reminiscent of Frank Frazetta.

You don't sound all that sympathetic.

Jeff Jones was a quasi-abstract artist who knew exactly where to put the brushstrokes to have the most impact; his brush was heavy and powerful. I am honestly amazed I have to actually be the one to say this in a room full of so many learned in the medium of comic art.

No one else had the ability to paint intent in a piece the way she did. Her covers are all legendary and her art even better than that.

Really? No one else has ever heard of Jeff Jones???

There's always going to be people one hasn't heard about.

I don't know him. Her. It.
And I'm a big heavy metal fan.

But just because someone is a GOOD artist doesn't mean they're well known.

That's obvious. It explains why you're still here.
