To me it looks...alright...

For some reason the body style of JOHNNY 5 has me little upset and bummed out.

But I love Pixar films and will see it.

I saw it at a press screening and it is absolutely fantastic — especially the character stuff. Those robots got me feeling pretty emotional.

This is the only robot that ever stirred up my emotions...

I saw a midnight showing. It is the best animated movie I've ever seen.

Truly amazing stuff, and not just in terms of other animated movies. As a whole, it's really something.

I'm definitely gonna see this, though I doubt for me it'll beat Akira...
If the reviews are correct, I'll most likely decide it to be Pixar's best...

Just saw it. It's my favorite Pixar movie as of right now. It's amazingly sweet, yet it also manages to make amazingly sharp and witty social commentary. The cinematography is oscar-worthy. It's the best movie of the year so far.

Cool. Saw the trailer a while back.

Pixar have some clever animators. I noticed that the characterisation was, as usual, top notch.

Many years ago Lasseter imbued a couple of desk-lamps with personality. The amount of cinematic tools has increased enormously since then, but they never seem to loose grip of the ability to connect with their audience on a basic level — through the expression of human emotion. Even if the subject is a table lamp, a deformed fish, a rat, or a wheeled dustbin.

Nick Park and Aardman have it, too. Real talent.

Thinking of the movie a bit more, it feels like an animated version of Brazil with Charlie Chaplin as the main character.

HUH????

What Brazil has to do with that?

I mean, I get the trash and the desolation, but...

I presume you are "being" funny there...

If not, I assume you haven't thought of Terry Gilliam's "Brazil".

Future-retro dystopia.

A bug gets in a machine while printing a document and causes all hell to break loose. The society is steered by paperwork.

Orwellian, Kafkaesque, Gilliam. Bit long, but worth a look. Clever use of limited budget.

I still need to watch to figure what 'Brazil' could possibily have to do with all that.

As for WALL-E:

finally went watching last night. It's a classic. It has got the elements of a classic. It has Pixar-style adventure and sense of humor and it touches so many different aspects of human life and prints it in such a funny, emotive and entertaining way that you'll feel the 1h45m actually are longer, like a good dream you actually dreamed by 6 min, but it felt like 4 hours. It's amazing, it's sharp, refined and beautiful in every single way. All of that, with probably 15% of continuous dialogue. An achievement, no shadow of doubt. 6/5 in my opinion, highly recommended in your DVD collection.

as for its 'coolness', it shares the 1st place with The Incredibles. But as a film surpasses it. By far. It brings that charm and enchantment of movies from the 80's, focused on one carachter, full of virtue and sympathy, the 100% clean and pure guy, without fear of looking cheesy. Perhaps that happens because there's not really a nemesis or a true antagonist. All there is WALL-E's uprightness.

I'm a 27 years old guy and I'm not ashamed to admit that some tears came to my eyes at some little moments. His craving for contact, for touching, his capability of affecting everyone in a good way, almost like a robotic Forrest Gump; his loyalty to anyone who eventually show him some appreciation. I will not say 'it makes you think', 'cause I'd hate a movie to cause me that. I believe changes and reflections should come from inside, not influenced by any work, an entertaining movie or a book. But I can't deny that WALL-E reminded me of good things, either literal, memories or principles you end up learning through your life.

The Pixar guys did it again.

P.S.: if you didn't watch it, prepare to let a silly, unexpected, almost a reflex-laughter or at least a 'ooohh' full of tenderness when he says his name. The whole theater went to it in that moment.

I saw it last week and this movie became a near instant favorite for me. It's one of those few films that I would consider to be near completely perfect. I loved every minute of it.

Simple, tender, funny, sometimes excruciatingly sad (I don't know about you but that sight of Earth completely dirtied up was depressing) and one of the few films to effectively give its message out loud with the story.

The cinematography and animation, as the trailers had suggested it is extremely realistic. If it wasn't for the human scenes, this (maybe) could have easily passed as a live-action animatronic film and no one would have said a word.

Yes, introducing so many humans to the story was a mistake imo. It could've been even better with a very limited number of characters, maybe just the two...
And yeah, it didn't even look cartoony in any way until the humans arrived
Still a great film

I would agree with this. Everything with the robots was a masterpiece, but the stuff with the humans wasn't nearly as good.

the punch on my stomach - in an emotive, dramatic way I mean - was his continuous care and attempts of closeness while EVE was in 'comma'. that really felt sad althought the screenwriter of this movie brilliantly could mix some physical/Chaplin's humor to it. absolutely amazing.

there are some parts of the movie that turn it into a classic. you feel when it is. when the captain turns his head and asks the computer 'define dance'. just beautiful.

Yes, much as I thought the humans were unnecessary, as a Curb your Enthusiasm fan I very much enjoyed Jeff Garlin's Captain
