Bizarre. Just a couple of months ahead of release, they've changed the title here in the UK...

If you look at the credits block at the bottom, only RDJ gets name ahead of the title. Read into that what you will.

I'm gonna laugh my ass off in a few years when RDJ gets too old for the role, he is considerably more "aged" than his counterparts.

Only if you're referring to Black Widow, Thor, and Cap.

Not quite. Samuel L's still doing his thing at 63, and Ruffalo is only two years RD Jr's junior.

Both roles are more reserved, of course, but looks that counteract middle-agedness is what Hollywood likes in its male stars (see Clooney, Pitt). I'd say he has much more than "a few years".

Judging by the order of names, Iron Man, Cap & Hulk are gonna be the more main characters of the film...

I'm okay with this.

You do realize that Whedon has come out and siad Cap will probably be the main character? This isn't news at all.

Oh I figured it from the trailer, but this poster confirms it if anything.

The poster's a crappy Photoshop job, but I guess it doesn't matter. Everyone and his dog knew that this movie has been coming down the pike for years now. Those who want to see this movie might as well have bought their tickets by now, and those who aren't excited won't ever be convinced.

sorry but it doesn't do well for the film, a tv show definitely, but not a feature-length, live-action film.

Well, I think "The Avengers" is just dull.

Consider: The title change seems to apply only to the UK and other European countries.

Consider also: "The Avengers" is also the title of an old spy TV series that was very popular in Britain but never found mainstream success in the States.

Coincidence?

Yeah, it needs some work.

I could have sworn my mother was the only person in the US that even knew that show existed. When I mentioned this movie, she thought of that show at first, then I walked away.

All colonial (ie. Brit colonial) countries screened The Avengers on TV. Stylish and brilliant camp spy show, similar in many ways to The Prisoner.

Yeah, Wheedon said in an interview that Cap was the lens, if you like, that focuses the film... that you see the relationships of the characters around him and the world they inhabit through his 'new' eyes in many ways. Finding that focus helped give the screenplay a centre.

Also, this is the shittiest poster design ever. There is no dynamic, no unity, no focus. Where is the comic book sensibility? Marketing department fail.
