Hahahaha That's the exact reason I haven't read a bunch of books.

*high five*

I'm not saying I wouldn't enjoy it if I read it, but there's a fuck-tonne of great SF I haven't read yet, and that takes priority over non-SF books. A book takes maybe 10 times as long to read as it does to watch a movie, and then maybe one day I'll read the book.

Ugh you nerds. READ A BOOK! Not a sports page, not a magazine, but a book, nigga! A fucking book, nigga!

Moving on

Trash. Teen slasher trash.

I know I shouldn't nitpick this crap, but it was full of plotholes, bad dialogue, poor acting, and character inconsistencies. Worst of all, watching this for the tenth time it finally occurred to me that the entire conceit the movie hinges on (that a bunch of kids on a highway in the middle of nowhere who run over a guy would cover it up) is preposterous. Why cover up an accident when you can keep it moving since no one but the dead fucker saw you?

When character A told character B that he didn't have her money and then reminded her that she could lose her scholarship if they were caught (why would she care if she has $$$?) I was over it. When character C called character A a rich boy 5 minutes after A proclaimed he was broke as shit, I knew I was really in for a steamer.

Scream was obviously the better film and franchise, which is probably why I own that one on Blu-ray and would only put this garbage on for background noise when having sex without wanting to disturb my roommates.

4/10

One point for the movie's marketing team for emphasizing Jennifer love hewitt's healthy bosoms on the poster.

Aliens
(on the big screen CHYEAHHHH)
9/10
A blast. Some of the special effects haven't aged that well, but this is still a wonderfully tense, very well made genre movie.

I'm embarrassed to admit, I never saw the first one. But yeah, pretty great movie.

I prefer the first one, but I don't think either one's really better than the other. They're both very good, very different types of movies.

I have been reading it, it's just that I also work and have college to go to, in addition to friends and comics.

If you don't finish that quickly, it'll be haunting you for quite the long time !

I was gonna rewatch the first last night but didn't in the end. It's pretty great that Aliens works (almost) as well for newcomers.
Absolutely fascinating film too. Not just psychoanalytically (the whole series is rife with the return of the repressed), but it's also a particularly good example of every character and event being a manifestation of the protagonist. Functionally there's a lot to support the idea that it's all in Ripley's head, you might say, not that this is how the film is meant to be read.
And my oh my, what on earth is going on ideologically? It's not an offender like some of Cameron's other films, but some of what he has to say here is quite bizarre. Which makes it interesting, of course. And to think, it's not even the most fascinating of the franchise!

Also funny that Paul Reiser plays the villain in this.

One of those great villains that you can't help but despise.
Burke is a real berk.

I dunno, Alien is pretty close to perfection, and is one of those rare 10/10 movies, Aliens is just a 9/10.
