One thing I didn't really like about the movie was the mars scenes. Some of them just seem drawn out and boring. I do however like when Laurie is able to smash that thing with a few punches. Was she mad that the Comedian was her father and didn't know? Or was she mad that she found out the Comedian was her father and now he's dead? It seemed like the Comedian really cared for both of them as he has pictures of Sally all over his apartment.
First and foremost, welcome to the forum, always great to have enthusiastic folk in here !
The scene with Rorschach and the prisoners is indeed in the book, I personally think it adds to Rorschach's character that he was able to kill two superiorly larger man than him with nothing more than clever timing and proper momentum, I think Moore was trying to say that it doesn't matter if you're not tall or physically capable, it just matters what you do and what you think, a department in which Rorschach was a little fucked up if anything.
As for Laurie, I always thought she was mad due to having her ideals practically being shit upon by the people she loved, as well as coming to terms with the fact that she doesn't have a choice in everything that happens in her life, some things are just going to happen, regardless of what you want. Still, despite all this, she is incredibly far behind Doctor Manhattan, Ozymandias, Rorschach, The Comedian and even Nite-Owl II, she really is the weakest link, makes me wonder if Moore had difficulty writing female characters at the time.
Thanks for the warm welcome and yeah i'm looking forward to reading the comic and stuff so i'm really enthusiastic at the moment.
Yeah I see what you mean. I really actually liked what they did for him in the prison scenes like you said, you don't have to be able to bench press 400 pounds to be strong. You just have to think quickly.
Laurie seems kind of like a bitch to some people in the movie like to Dr.Manhattan, Rorschach, even her mother.
Can someone answer me what she actually did for the Watchmen? She really didn't do much in the story to be honest. I guess she fits in but it bought a lot of screen time for her.
Also, when Holis Mason was killed, was he having flash backs to his time with the Minutemen? And when he is about to be killed and realizing this is the final end, is that Moloch?
And IMO The Comedian has to be one of the more stronger vigilantes. He defended himself well against Adrian even though it was undoubtedly the end for him, I just think they could have made Mason look a bit better. It was really sad when the music stops and he just gets killed. I thought that was kinda dirty.
Oh yeah, do you guys think there will ever be a Watchmen 2 movie? I desperately want to see it being made and since the Watchmen 2 is actually coming out in the comic book genre, do you think its a possibility?
