No, not exactly. If the character was meant to be irritating, then yes, Depp achieved what he set out to do, but if the character isn't meant to be irritating than there's another problem altogether.

Well, one COULD argue Jack Sparrow is also meant to be irritating to some people

Well... at least it's not set in the modern day. Then it would have been COMPLETELY without merit.

My reaction to this movie is much like my first reaction to The Lorax -- I hope to God that this movie turns out to be good, though I know beyond any doubt that it won't.

It's incredible how these days the combination of Tim Burton + Johnny Depp + Helena Bonham Carter can fuck up expectations of a movie inmensely, specially when it's such a good idea.

I don't think there is a god. And if there is I'm nothing like him.

Feels like oldschool Burton, like Edward Scissorhands and Beetlejuice and shit.
I think it'll probably be pretty good.

I agree, I think it has the potential to be good, there's no way I'll see it at the cinema though, unless it gets stupidly high fresh ratings on RT, which is unlikely, I'll definitely watch it on BD though.

I will however, definitely be watching Frankenweenie on the big screen, 100%
