No, no. I mean the ship itself.

The Prometheus is obviously much bigger and neater, with four engines instead of two. But otherwise, yeah, that looks like Serenity to me. It's even more obvious in the front view, with that sort of beak-like shape. Hell, the engines even change direction VTOL style.

I find it curious that Ridley Scott is listed as the director of Blade Runner and Gladiator, but not Alien.

Also, is it just me or does the Prometheus look a bit like Serenity?

it's a bit odd, but then they've been saying al along they want to distance it from Alien,

also Alien was his first movie, maybe he feels like he has grown a lot as a director since then.

it does annoy me that Sir Ridley is constantly said to be the director of Gladiator, when as far as I'm concerned it's one of his worst movies.

That seems.......................quite the preposterous comment, considering the amount of Alien elements found in the trailer.

I just don't think they want people expecting Alien 5 or Alien zero.

Curiously, given the times we live in, that would be extremely profitable for the movie, specially if this really just turns out to be another Alien movie.

Which sort of makes me respect Scott a little more.

I ship those ships.

I saw the Alien IN the trailer for like literally less than a second.
I make my own trailers, and a whole second is a long time, so I'm estimating it was only there for like 0.30.
Yeah.

Not to mention, the Space Jockey in Alien had a hole in his chest with the bones bent outward.
We will definately be seeing chest bursting here.

It's technically not an Alien film though, it's just set in the same universe.

Do you not see that Scott is trying to surprise people?
Its a kansas city shuffle.

There WILL BE xenomorphs in this movie.

I read from someone involved with the movie "We know what the alien looks like when it comes out of a human... but imagine if we saw one that came out of a creature from another galaxy. Something entirely alien. Would we recognize it...?"

Thats prometheus.

And when I said I saw the alien in the trailer, I do in fact mean the xenomorph.

^ I know what you're talking about, but Xenomorphs will not physically be in this movie, there's just no way (I'm sure their creation will be explained, overriding that horrendous backstory from AVP, not that it's even canon, it will just be better than "the predators made the xenomorphs for hunting lulz"). The Space Jockeys are clearly the (somewhat) villains/aliens of this film.

My guess is something along the lines of the SJ created the xenomorphs to dominate worlds or something, and earth was one of their targets. They obviously don't succeed, but the crew of the Prometheus perish as well (maybe one of them surviving long enough to get hit by a facehugger). Somehow, Weyland learns of this, but doesn't do anything about it. Fifty years later, the Nostromo just happens to pass by the same rock, and the "distress signal" is faked by the android Bishop in order to get a second chance at discovering whatever was on the SJ ship.

I'm still convinced this is a secret prequel, there's just no way it can't directly tie into the Alien franchise.

Which sort of begs the question, by how much is this NOT an alien movie ?

Lack of Xenomorph you say ? Well, a Terminator movie is still a Terminator movie even if Arnie doesn't show up.

I'm not trying to give the impression that I want this to be an alien movie, it could be the crew of the Prometheus against the little ponies and I'd still watch it, it looks fucking amazing, and that's what counts.

But I feel really curious about how Scott sees this film in relation to the Alien films, and how it fits into the fascinating Sci-Fi mythology he has created.

Also, I agree about SJ = Bad guys.

I was under the impression that that wasn't presented as their origin, but that the Predators just used them.

Well, isn't it fairly clear at this point anyway? I don't know if some form of Xenomorphs are appearing in the film, but as soon as I saw the Space Jockey, my prequel speculation was over.

Pretty much ! In that case, why not just name it "Alien Zero" or something ? It sure as shit would make the movie more profitable.

I don't think that's the analogy you're looking for. That's like saying "an Alien movie is still an Alien movie even if Sigourney Weaver doesn't show up."

As far as I'm concerned, any movie that takes place in the Alien universe is either an Alien movie or a spin-off. At this point, I'm inclined to think it's the latter.

As to the lack of Xenomorph, no. A Xenomorph by any host other than a human is still a fucking Xenomorph.

xeno is the prefix for change.
xenophobic is the term for someone afraid of change or outside influence.

You see the correlation?
also,

Speculate.

And the hole in the space jockey's chest.

This is a fucking alien prequel.

bigger version that i made a few days ago (better quality too, superior screen ftw).

uh, it looks like a form of cave drawing or fossil to me...

it looks like it's on fire, first of all. so i really can't figure out what's going on in this picture. either way, i still don't think xenomorphs will physically show up. facehuggers and space jockeys definitely, but no xenos.
